I was in attendance at New Castle the last two nights, all three nights were very well attended with 7K plus the first two and a SRO crowd last night. A side note if Grant Smith of Connersville has not signed with anybody we should take a look at this kid. Handles the ball very well can shoot the three and not afraid to mix it up not low, 6'6" that is just a winner, refuses to lose.

Couple of links for Grant Smith.

Where do you play a skinny 6'6" forward in the MVC? Take a look at ISU (red) and WSU; their guys are 6'8" with beef and muscle AND can: jump, handle the ball, defend, box out and rebound. Grant Smith will have a very nice career playing D-II somewhere. We have a habit of going for guys like this and then trying to convince people they're legit D-I players.

Jalen Adaway is 6'4" 180, Sasha Stefanovic is 6'3" 175 (yes he is a shooting guard) Francesco Badocchi is 6'7" 195, Grant Smith is 6'6" 177 looks like to me they are all pretty much the same size. You described a 4 or 5 star athlete that is not who we are but yes we should try for them. Grant is being strongly considered for the All Star team they do not put DII talent on the All Star team for we have far too much D1 talent. The kid has the all of the talent you described and more he is just 6'6" and not 6'8" but he has a big heart something that can not be taught. Bring him to campus and start weight training he will get stronger and bigger.

Yah --- have you seen how guys come into ISU skinny 6'7" -- 6'9" kids but add 30 - 40 lbs of muscle, enhance their moves around the basket, learn to box out their opponents and grab 10 -12 rebounds a game, and turn into All-MVC stars by their Junior year .........................

Oh, wait a minute ..............that was all just a dream .............

As Rosanne Rosanna Dana often said "Never Mind"

For the most part, the forwards playing for Il St. and WSU are not 4-5 star. And, there are other teams in the MVC that have much better forwards than we do. We are falling behind the pack unless our next recruiting class has players (forwards) that can walk and chew gum at the same time.

The good news is that Grant Smith already knows how to block out as he is averaging ten rebounds per game this year. He has grown two inches in the last year. All of our recruits are approximately the same size. I take it that done of you have seen him play.

I said that what you described are 4-5 star, I did not comment on WSU or Il St. with WSU leaving the conference any time now they are immaterial.

Smith may be a great player for us -- I know nothing about him. But I will say when your 6'6" in high school pulling down 10 -- 12 rebounds a game does not necessarily make you a solid Div I player in the MVC ----- Guys that height don't need to much "boxing out" in high school.

My comment was really about the lack of development and improvement by ISU recruits 6'5" and above. You just don't see much (if any) change in their talent & skill level over their coreers.

And every year I read on this site about the "new" bigs coming in and how this will change things -- we'll be better next year ! Good kids, were good high school players -- yes, and maybe could play at some level in college ............but good or very good players in Div I MVC level ? ? ? ? ?

Not saying I like saying any of the above and its NOTHING against any young man -- but my comments are just about 100% accurate
