Not ground breaking news or anything, just thought some of you might want to know. Dan has excepted a paid intern position in their strength and conditioning department. He will be working with athletes in all sports. I know he is very excited to start his career. He starts June 1st. I would say it is not a bad place to start. Just won FCS National Championship and are a top national basketball program.

Congratulations Dan!

This proves that good things happen to good people. Dan Millington is one more reason I'm proud to be a Tree. Good luck Dan!

His dad is a super guy and someone whom I have known for 40 years. I know what a proud man he is for his son tonight! Dan DESERVES whatever comes him way because he endured ISU football for four years and has nothing but TWO VICTORIES to show for it. This guy NEVER gives up. He will be asset wherever he ends up, PERIOD. I was sitting with his dad when they broke the string at homecoming and I will NEVER forget that moment, NEVER! Absolutely, one my favorite moments in some 44 years of Indiana State sports that I have experienced.........as they say--priceless! That victory was right up there beating Arkansas to get into the Final Four.

Dan once again congrats! Something about this sentence rubs me the wrong way... What did he endure? 4 years of college athletics, playing football at the highest level? I can think of many, many folks that would kill to be in his position. People don't "endure" college athletics, it's a gift from God to even be able to do what he did for 4 years.

I can honestly tell you or anyone else, if you have participated in college athletics like Dan has you have much more than those 2 wins to show for all your hard work and dedication. I am sure those 2 wins are great memories that will last a life time, but to be a college athlete means a whole lot more than wins and losses at the end of the day. It's not the wins or losses that will make Dan exceed at whatever he does, it's the life lessons learned along the way. Don't ever forget that...

Congrats to Dan and I do agree with Morgan 100%. It is an honor to play college athletics at any level, no matter how many wins you have, if you work hard everyday, you should be proud of yourself for the opportunity to play at the next level. (:

You don't think you would get discouraged if you played on a team that went thru the turmoil that has been Indiana State football for the past four years. You don't think you would have any doubts about sticking it out with a new coach with a totally different style of play, being on a team that was dominated by underclassmen, and that saw better than 50% leave the team in one season. I am not sure how that statement can rub you or anyone else the wrong way. I was simply commending this young man for putting up with that crap. No one is criticizing him for "not appreciating" being on a full ride, but on a team that had a revolving door on its players during his whole tenure on the team, he endured. If that statement rubs you the wrong way, so be it. All I am saying is that he worked his ass off, didn't complain, didn't quit and did it with class and was voted a captain of his team to boot. I am not sure how many of his teammates made it thought all FOUR years on that team but all of them should be commended, period. Those guys stand for what you want in a true collegiate athlete. I would bet that the 4-year vets on that team could be counted on one hand!

"Nothing but 2 victories..." and "putting up with that crap"??? Amazingly, I have to agree with Morgan on this one. I think Dan got far more benefit from staying with the program and persevering than the "NOTHING BUT 2 VICTORIES". Did he not learn something from the new coaches and the young players? Or did he just have to "put up with that crap"? Did he not get his education paid for? Was he not provided opportunities because of his involvement with the football program? You demean the rest of the players, most of whom work just as hard as Dan, by the comments about "enduring" and "...that crap". They all have been living in the same program. What about last years' handful of senior players? If I'm not wrong, they had 1 win to show for their work, and had to "endure" the heartbreak of 2 near victories and mostly Freshmen playing during their senior season. I had one of those Freshman starters, and I met some class act Seniors last year like Jayden and Jack.

I in no way intend to diminish what Dan has accomplished--he is indeed representative of what a STUDENT athlete should be--but more to call attention to what some comments singling out one do to the rest. Good luck at Villanova, Dan. Send some winning karma back to Terre Haute during the fall.
We all admire Dan and his amazing work ethic. Let's leave it at that. I care for him and his family too much to say one more thing about this topic. I'll just say I am wrong and we'll leave it at that!

I think we are reading too much into the comment . I understand what Bally is saying and when its the end of the day its congrats to Dan for his opprotunity. I dont think anyone was saying he endured more than anyone else on that team or any other college athlete . the fact that he is moving on is great just as it was great for any other student, athlete or not that got a job after enduring ISU and starting out their new life.

Hallaleuia, AMEN!

Morgan.............................just one of those times that "No Comment" would be a better comment; no constructive purpose? You let your mouth overload your a$$ again?

One more thing. I certainly hope that one day you actually learn how to read and comprehend. Knowing just one doesn't seem to work well for you!

Hey nothing against you at all Bally, just one person's perspective - maybe other's would have put it differently that's all. I am not here to argue the logic of what you were getting at, I just didn't really like the way it came across that's all. Maybe I did read to far into it, I didn't really give you a hard time on a personal level - just that I wanted to make it clear that playing division 1 athletics is not a choice we make, it's a gift we were given. Anyone who takes that for granted, are usually the ones that can't endure what need be not endured... In other words, only the strong survive, Dan had it all - my guess was he doesn't view it like you told it.

And to you ISUFAN, maybe one of those times that a personal mesg. to me letting me know your disapproval in my post would have been appropriate. How is what you just did any different than what I did? Let me tell you how it is different, "You let your mouth overload your a$$ again?". That part of it right their, I didn't get on Bally as a person I am sure he is a good man.

I once again Congratulate Dan for a great career at Indiana State! Sorry that I made this thread about something that I thought didn't need to be said. Maybe in the end it did, some folks will never understand!

Morgan, despite what you might think, your comments didn't bother that much. The assumptions made by New Sycamore Fan based on the comments I made, were flat out absurd. Anybody that knows me is keenly aware that ISU football has ALWAYS been where my heart is. I am admittedly, NOT a basketball expert nor pretend to be one. I attend more Indiana State football games than 95% of the people on here, have been to BOTH of the victories in the past four years, and sat out at Memorial for almost an hour after homecoming 09 to "take it all in". I will NEVER forget that moment. I clearly made comments about the tumultuous state of ISU football but nobody on this board can dispute what has gone on here for four years. Being critical of the whole picture certainly is not treasonous, it is just reality.

There is no reason to bring the Millington family into this discussion. If NSF wants to talk about ISU football, post something NEW in the football area without Dan's name on it and we can go at it. I will gladly discuss this further. Just don't tarnish the wonderful accomplishments of the son of a good friend of mine! Present the facts and let's roll. He simply didn't read my comments close enough to figure out what I was saying.

This "old" Sycamore fan would NEVER consider missing the first football game this fall because that is, as I have said earlier, where my heart is. On top of that, I am in total support of Coach Miles and have been from day one. NSF should never need to question my loyalty to Sycamore football. It is unending and always will be.

It just offends me that he seems so hell-bent on twisting what I said and making something negative of it. See you on September 4th! I would guess that he won't be there!
