I don't know about that. Ohio State really wasn't that impressive this season, a lot of people hate them and you have the little brother effect.

While watching that game I was thinking and wondering if ISU has ever played teams like Dayton, Akron, Ohio , Cleveland State, Xavier etc.
It seems to me that for some reason we haven't scheduled teams in the State of Ohio. A lot of those teams would be nice to have in our non-conference schedule IMO. Just seems like we never play teams East of Indiana!

I don't get all of the recurring complaints about the schedule. A few years ago we had a bad schedule. The past two seasons it's been pretty good, next year will be good. It's not been the problem in recent years.

Good question, Dawg. We have played Miami, Cleveland State, Bowling Green and Kent State at least once but considering their proximity to Indiana, I am not sure why we don't play Ohio schools more often. That leaves Dayton, OSU, Wright State, Toledo, Cincy, Xavier off the list and likely more not on past schedules.

I simply asked a question--relax and chill out!

Thanks for the information and for answering my question.

I'm not worked up. Just think we should be pretty happy with the schedules we've had of late. Dayton played at Illinois State this year, so it would seem they're not opposed to playing MVC schools.

To be honest this years non confrence schedule sucked . Had we had the last year and the record we had this year we would have had an at large bid .

It could be argued last year's non-conf. schedule was worse. Only real difference is we lost our first-round invitational tournament game and then, as a result, didn't play as good of teams in the second and third games. We got lucky last year with the season Miami had after we beat them.

Were losses to UCLA and New Mexico better than a win against Notre Dame and split with Belmont?

While we're on the topic of scheduling, now that North Dakota State has reached the NCAA Tournament and won its first round game, why again did we not put them in the MVC instead of Loyola? Yeah, I know it's a shorter commute, but they have a consistent program and we'd have more consistency as a conference. We already fly the basketball team all over the country.

What about beating Ole Miss in the opening round of the Diamond Head classic ? I would say having 4 wins over top teams for the year Confrence champs and ranked teams beats the Holy Hell out of a split with a Nit Bid Belmont and a win against a really bad Notre Dame team. We had Zero wins against teams in the NCAA this year .

I'm talking about what was scheduled more than I am what we did with it in terms of wins, losses. Buddawg is grumbling about the schedule like Bankshot always does.

One difference I hadn't thought of until the season was over, is that had we gone thru the winner's bracket at Alaska, that would have boosted our SOS too. Somehow that Tulsa game seemed to hurt us more than we ever thought, PLUS if Tulsa had gone on to have the season they had, it would have been a top 100 win, which we did not have.

Not grumbling here----just pointing out like Dave has ....that we had zero wins against teams in the NCAA this year. Yet some of you were grumbling about us not getting an NCAA bid! The point is if we don't beef up our non-conference schedule we are going to again find us with an impressive overall record but struggling at getting into either the NCAA or NIT. So pick your poison Bent! Can't have it both ways!

We didn't get it done in conference. Don't lost two or three of those regular season games at the end and we probably make the NCAA Tournament, even after appearing to blow our chances multiple times.

Isn't that the inherent risk you have with scheduling? How many teams on our schedule this year were in the NCAA tournament within the last 2 years when the games were agreed upon? For example, we have several on our schedule next year that though they were getting a good opponents but odds are we're likely to fall middle of the pack in the MVC which equates to a 125-175 RPI. They probably want their money back, too.

I don't think we would have. The more research I did, we'd have still missed out because of our two games against non-D1 opponents. Say we won out but lost to Wichita, we'd have only had 24 D1 wins. We'd had a better seed in the NIT.

It could be argued that our most crucial loss of the season was against Tulsa.
