Opportunity to win our first (of three) championships of the current season (as coach likes to put it...and it's true)!

If we play well, we win three games. Unfortunately, there's a LOT that defines "playing well". But, we can absolutely do it.

I do think that if we get the opportunity to play TCU again, we won't lose by 20 points again. And no, I don't mean we'll lose by more than 20 points.

Gotta get past the Buffaloes. Then, hopefully get to beat another MWC team this year. And finally, get some national recognition by beating The Horn Frogs. That would put us 9-3 going into Valley play, and certainly a FRONT RUNNER to finish at (or near) the top of the league.

But of course, first thing's first, gotta get past the Buffaloes.

And I'm gonna make a prediction...I predict Neese lights it up from beyond the arc on Saturday. What qualifies as "lights it up"? In my book, it means he makes 4+ threes while attempting fewer than 10.

And yes, my prediction is based completely on the following video...

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a...stop, it IS a plane. It's the Sycamores flying to Hawaii.

This s certainly a winnable game.

CU has played a typical power-5 conference schedule so far. Nothing but a bunch of home games and only a few (2) true road games. In those road games they lost @ San Diego and just recently won on the road @ New Mexico. Otherwise, they've feasted at home against the likes of UIC, Omaha, Portland, etc. They did host MVC powerhouse Drake, which they stomped 100-71, in their season opener.

I'll admit that I've yet to see CU play a single minute this year, but looking at their stats and their roster there's only a few that stand out. McKinley Wright is their best player, and he's kind of a Jordan Barnes clone standing only at a listed 6'0"...which means he's more like 5'9". He appears to be much more of a slasher than a shooter. He's only shooting 23% from three, but he gets to the line more than any other Buff and he shoots 50% from the field. Defending dribble penetration is going to be tough with that guy.

Lucas Siewert will be a matchup problem as a 6'10" forward who can shoot the three, and he's not shy about doing it. Tyler Bey is their do-it-all wing, who really gets to the glass and can score. Williams, Hughes and Rickman are all going to need to show up on the boards to keep these guys from generating second and third chance possessions.

Since I have not seen CU play, I won't make a score prediction. We should keep it close either way. Go Trees!!!

It's slightly more than 24 hours until tip-off and I have to wonder...

Who will be our leading scorer tomorrow?
How many Sycamores will score in double-digits tomorrow?
Will we still be #1 in the nation in 3pt% after tomorrow's game?
Will Neese light it up from behind the arc? Will he "let the game come to him" instead of forcing the issue?
Will Williams have another double-double?
Will we see the following players all on the floor at the same time: Williams, Barnes, Keys, Neese, Kessinger?
Will the powder blue uniforms make an appearance this weekend?
Will we improve on transition defense? (since that's something coach specifically mentioned in the video posted above)
Will Colorado be looking past us as they eye a Diamond Head championship?
How problematic will the Buffs be, with their balanced scoring? (6 guys average 9+ points a game).
Will we fare better against the Buffs than Drake's 100-71 loss to them?
How many times will the announcing team of Roxy Bernstein and LaPhonso Ellis reference Larry Bird.
Who's version of Mele Kalikimaka do you like more? Bing Crosby, The Andrew Sisters, Don Ho, or other?
Will we come home from Hawaii with the Diamond Head Classic Championship Trophy?

Personally I will be happy with 1 win in this MTE, our last 2 we've gone 0-3, so let's get one win and all will be well

If we're gonna win one, let's win the first one. At least that way we get better competition for the next two...

This is how I feel as well. Before the season started I put us down as going 0-3 in this tournament. I didn't even know who we were playing, but we always seem to lose in these tournaments as of late. With that said here are my predictions for the tournament.

We're 8 point dogs today. I'm not too confident that we will beat the spread. Hopefully the boys surprise me and win, but I'm sort of expecting us to lose by around 15.

Tomorrow I'm thinking we will play Hawaii. We should beat Hawaii.

Then the third day I'm guessing that we will play Bucknell for 5th place. It's a 50/50 game in my view and will depend on which teams show up for both sides.

So bare minimum we should go 1-2. 3-0 would be preferred obviously, but if we finish 2-1 I'll take it.

I’ve never seen a post player get more bogged down and unable to get a shot up on the glass than Thomas - it’s incredible. He juat dives into the arms of the defender who doesn’t even have to jump and the ball is packed down.
