Sixties Sycamore

The Recruit Level
Of one of his teams, Yogi Berra said they had deep depth. Watching the 09-10 Sycamore men, I know now what he meant. When three of the top scorers went down to injury, the playing time was spread among the remaining eight who, to a man, have realized that a full effort is required to succeed and they have given it. Coaches have given extra effort, configuring new plans. Red shirts and injured players have adjusted to give practice and game time bench support.

The "deepness" of this Sycamore team has been more than just a pleasant diversion at a time when it seems like the wheels are falling off the world wagon, these young men have grown before our eyes this year. They dug down deep and found courage.

Yeah no doubt about it and I think we talked about it early this summer when we found out Kelly was coming to Indiana State.

We were talking about how AC was probably not going to play over like 10 minutes a game becuase of the depth and for the first couple months of the season we were right on... Then the injuries started pileing up and are true depth started to show.

But anytime you have a kid (AC) who started nearly half your games the season before who starts the season playing less than 10 per game then you display depth pretty well. It also helps answer the question why the coaching staff did not pull the red shirts off any of the frosh, even though I would still beat a dead horse and debate that they should have pulled one early on. But that's just the way it goes!
