IMHO, hands down it has to be SIU. They have been a very good defensive team for quite a few years, but there is a vast difference between physical defense and dirty play. SIU has had a problem with character issues on the squad the last few years, and along with the frustration of playing for a losing team, and for a coach under siege from the fan base, this squad has stepped over the line.

Funny...JERRY SLOAN was similar-typed when he played for Evansville on those back-back NCAA title squads. They said he had "sharp elbows"...LOL

How many All-Defense NBA honor squads was he selected for?

Of course, SIU 2011 is a far cry from '63, isn't it? Besides, Walt Frazier had CLASS, which is why he was nicknamed, "Clyde."

Walt 'Clyde' Frazier

Frazier had STYLE; whether or not he was a classy person or player had nothing to do with his nickname; it was ALL ABOUT the STYLE.

Frazier was selected by the New York Knicks with the 5th pick in the 1967 NBA Draft and played for them during which time he picked up the nickname "Clyde" because he wore a similar hat to Warren Beatty who played Clyde Barrow in the 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde.

I guess it depends on what side of the fence you're camping as to whether it's "style" or "class," eh?

I was living & experiencing the wide-brim hats & wide bell bottom slacks of the era. After picking up my IHSAA officiating license in '70 @ ISU, I was asked by ISU's BILL MALLOY to call a weekend TH FOP state hoop tournament involving posts from around IN. The Gary, IN squad had a tall gentleman adorned in "Frazier-like" attire who was called the "Rick Barry from Gary." Style or class, call it what you want.

Remember where Jake Kelly tore his acl last year? I agree with you...SIU has some dirty players.
