The Drake Relays is a track meet that you will never forget and in Iowa it's a track meet that you just don't miss. They have a whole celebration around this track meet, as you are on the bus driving in to the stadium people are in the front yard drinking beer and playing corn hole at every house - you would think you are rolling up to a college football game! lol
All of this madness surrounds a track meet, they have a parade and everything. Then you step on the track and you can expect to run in front of a crowd of 15,000 to 19,000 people and it's something I will never forget!
As a freshman I anchored our 4 by 8 relay at Drake and as I walked down to get ready to take the baton I was walking next to Christan Smith of Kansas State (one of the top runners in the country at this time) he went on to run on the US Olympic team... I must say that is one of the greatest experiences of my college career!
