Pretty sure this article is timely and in response to much of the discussion that took place on this forum during the season.

The article gives you a pretty clear picture of the drug testing policy and process at Indiana State.

Find it interesting the only coaches quoted on this story were track/cross country coaches. From a "sport" perspective suspected drug use in the form of PES's has long surrounded track and field so I understand that perspective. However...

The article doesn't reference any "specific" drugs but it would seem to point toward the usage of "street" drugs.

Bottom line: don't do drugs, don't go around drugs, don't have anything to worry about. Drugs are a major problem across the United States - this is not iust an Indiana State problem. The University has a sound policy in place and enforces the policy - good for them!!

If athletes still choose to use - you either suspend them or dismiss them. Not much else you can do.

I have been a member of random drug test pools for several years. A voluntary pool was open to teachers and staff at the school corporation. Mandatory random testing was required of bus drivers. Students loved it when teachers were called from class to pee in a cup. I might add that parents liked it too. My reason for mentioning this has to do with the frequency of tests. As a member of 2 different pools I have been tested up to 5 times in one school year. I have also gone untested for almost 3 consecutive school years.
