Looks like Golden is finally putting out there what we've been posting about for a couple years now. If FCOA goes through, it's over. He mentions non-scholarship football, but I don't know how they can do that with Title IX ratios and what not. Just beyond ridiculous and I feel for Prettyman, especially if he has to make a difficult decision like shuttering a program.

For those of you supporting other schools, watching FBS teams, you'll possibly have had a direct hand in closing your alma mater's football program since the media contracts is where the big time money is coming from and your eyeballs help ratings. Crazy to think about.

This is scary stuff.

It's ridiculous when you think about it. I'm amazed and sickened how five conferences have been able to do accomplish all of this. After I started comprehending all of this stuff, I made a vow to not support any other school -- as I've made it known, I've always been a Notre Dame fan as well. I think I'm going to amp it up this year and not watch any FBS games unless we're playing in them.

I have read a slew of articles and the NCAA has been behind the times for awhile.. there is a difference between the very bigs, bigs and others (D1). A lot of Sabre rattling is going on..(fr the big 5) so that the big 5 can get what they want. I don't believe in the end they will destroy the smaller programs because most of those coaches started at a smaller program and you would think understand the needs of those programs. They need people like Phil Steele and Media to help and back a system that gives credit to or includes the small schools in the ranking system no matter if its FBS or FCS "so that the people/population knows how good a team is compared to others" when they play. Some Fans watch a game against from a Big 5 watch a game against an FCS and they don't know where they fit in the ranking! understand? knowledge is power and the word needs to get out.. somehow! The Sagarin ratings ..ranks ALL of D1. Did you know North Dakota State was ranked 17th of all D1 in the final polls? Right now they are preseason ranked #40. This way a Big 5 or other team could get positive credit for their playoff system by credit for a ranking system somehow. But some the NCAA rules where what you can give and can't (in recruiting too) are really out of times.. the big 5 have money, let them spend it they way they want.. but as long as they share and create a system that can still help ALL of college football as a whole! The squeeky wheel gets the grease, so all the lower FBS and FCS especially need to start making noise.. unless they already got the secret handshake..lol I also agree SUPPORT YOUR TEAM more now than ever!

FYI: ISU is ranked preseason #172

That's capitalism folks. Rich get richer. Someone was pointing this out to me the other day and I thought it was interesting and true. Europe is largely socialist politically (most countries) but look at their pro sports leagues and they're dominated by capitalism. The wealthy clubs dominate (most soccer leagues have the same 3, maybe 5 teams competing for the championship for decades) and face no restrictions to curtail their spending.

Meanwhile in the U.S, our politics by and large are dominated by capitalism (we're far more conservative than most European countries) and our pro sports leagues are socialist. The best teams draft last, we have salary caps, etc. The exception is college sports. There, the top teams with all of the money and leverage dictate everything. Is that not how it should be???

.......I wanted to add; I read that the HC from IU said they aren't going to schedule FCS past 2016...? if the Big 5 or all of FBS start that..AND not send/spread some $$ then we need to start voicing our concern to our local congressmen. NCAA was started by I believe a President a long time ago concerning football and maybe its time again. I would also love to see a FBS(top 40) vs FCS(#1) Bowl.. all D1 rules apply to FBS and FCS.. so why not the $$ from media?? Food for thought.. let them be allowed to pass down some money to the players.. but then they need to share the wealth for the sake of football as a whole. To me the NCAA waited too long to make changes which has caused the current trend.. but don't wait till the last minute to try and fix it.. now is the time to start voicing concerns. IMO
