By my count, there are 3 former walk-ons/grey shirts that I know of that are starting in Harker, Lee and Moss. I assume they're all on scholarship by now but that is pretty interesting.

Man, CB depth chart is interesting. Dimitri Taylor moves over to CB during camp and is now second on the depth chart? Is he that good, or are we hurting at CB that much?

Last year, we ended the season with Brockington (Jr) and Tyson (So) at one corner, Green (So) and Beacham (Jr) at the other. At safeties, we had Lough (Sr) and Walker (Jr) and Wilson (Sr) and Scott (Fr). This was after we lost Lonnell Brown, who was also a senior.

Brockington and Beacham are both gone from the roster. A couple of the others that were recruited as corners now are showing up at safety. So it looks like the previous staff didn't recruit guys that can play in the new staff's system and some guys had grades or off-the-field issues so they were booted.

It's funny where the places they dug their heels in were.
In retrospect, the sheer number of JUCO kids they brought in that didn't work out is pretty incredible which begs a number of questions. Whats more, Sanford was given a contract extension to boot basically on the heels of the foundation that Miles laid.

So looking at the depth chart, and keeping in mind I am not as knowledgeable about football as many others, we seem to be in good position at QB and running back, unknown at WR and not sure about the OL.

On defense I think we are good at LB, not sure about the DL, should be concerned about the CB position and unsure of the safeties.

Can someone help me out on where we stand with our OL, WR, DL, and Safeties?

we definitely have some beef on the OL. It's hard to say if they will fit the style of offense the coaches prefer to run but I think they will be able to shape their game to what can work best.

I couldnt tell you a good WR from a quadriplegic until I saw them play against someone from another team and then it would be a questionable assessment.

What is going to be interesting is to see the adaptation to a run first offense after a lot of those guys were recruited for Sanford's spread. We had problems run blocking under Sanford so it will be interesting to see if it was just poor instruction and scheme. Offensive and defensive line are always my #1 priorities on both sides of the ball and during Miles last couple years was the first time I finally felt like we had those locked down.

Yeah i agree there. I felt the scheme made us way softer than we actually were over the lst couple years. I thought we had some linemen that were being wasted

The new guys recruited are all pretty full figured guys. All come from run based teams and teams that had winning programs. In order to turn it around you need guys that know how to win and the process it takes to get there. Give the coaches time. It wont happen overnight, but they have a great chance to turn it around sooner than later. The school has committed to the program and the head coach is a high moral character coach. Fans will show when they start to win. By reading the article. Looks like they are stockpiling lineman for the future and playing the young skill guys because of need. These guys have a plan. Should be fun. Go Sycamores!!!
