I will admit that I do not know the specific rules of how and where people can line up offensively. I am not alone, though. We get called for this every week; I hope we get a clarification of this rule soon and instruct our people to do this properly so we don't get one of these penalties at a horrible time in a conference game.

I think our coaches do a great job; this just seems to be one specific, chronic problem that should be more easily fixable.

7 players have to be within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage and also break the center's waist. most of the time it is wide outs that dont move up far enough(if they ask the ref he will tell them if they are). sometimes on punts its because the tackle is moved back too far and doesnt break the center's waist

They were complaining about this on the Illinois State board too--they had 2 punts with the same penalty, and a handful of offensive plays. Unless it's blatant and leads to an advantage of some type, refs should show some discretion.

Sorry NSF, but I don't agree. If it is a bad rule get rid of it. The kids and coaches know the rule. Officials have a rough time at best. Don't put them in the position of deciding when to call it. We need to learn of follow the rule or the rules committee needs to get rid of it.

That's what I understood the problem to be. All they need to do is ask the official and they will be told if they are legal or not.

It makes a difference as to who the eligible receivers are. All these guys have been playing for 4-15 years. They should know where to line up and all the fields have hash marks to help. And lastly if they look at the official on the sideline he will have his hand up if the end man on the line of scrimmage is off the line of scrimmage. No hand up, the end man on the line of scrimmage is on the line of scrimmage. This is a mental mistake as much as forgetting the snap count.

Agree with NIKLZ62. Thesea re basic formations teams work on every day at practice. It's typically a reciever not getting up to or off the LOS. It was a good call and if you noticed the player did not go back in the game for a few series after the penalty-
