When I was in college, 1968-72, most of our rivalries were from Indiana. With the new Memorial Stadium and demise of the ICC, our schedule changed dramatically. I was there with the ill-fate Conference of Midwestern Universities. I do remember, though, some type of a trophy that was passed to the winner of the I-State/ Ball State game. Now, I do not believe we have anything like that.
Illinois State and Eastern Illinois will play their 100th game this year and have initiated a travelling trophy. Since Eastern is probably our oldest rival, but will not return to the schedule on a regular basis, maybe we should attempt to start something with SIU and or ISU. It would be good to build a rivalry that could be our last game of the season. That might help form some spirit.
