Oftentimes you read where Alabama or Ohio State sign a 5-star kid out of high school.
I know we don't have any 5 or 4 star players and probably not any 3 star.
So what do you think the majority of our players are? 1-star with some 2-star?
Do you think we have any 0-star, if there is such a thing?
It would be interesting to know what our average player is compared to the rest of the MVFC.
My wild guess is 1.75 compared with 2.25.

Rivals and Scout were the ones that popularized the star rankings. I think it's been a decade since they've given out 1 star to prospects. Today, once you get below 3 stars, kids are typically listed at 2 stars or none. It's not been since that Conrrad Nichols class that we've had someone listed as 3-star or higher I don't believe.

Right now, for example, looking at 247Sports (they purchased Scout) and Rivals, we've only got one player that has a star ranking at all, WR Matae Thomas, who is listed as a two star recruit. Short of the top tier prospects that get their rankings at the various combines, star rankings in football at our level are widely irrelevant because most of these kids don't get seen at said combines and these recruiting services don't send people to scout the tens of thousands of high school games happening every Friday night -- don't have the resources.

In hoops, there are fewer players and they can lop of a great deal of those because the better players are the ones typically playing AAU ball. That's why those rankings are sometimes more accurate and hold more weight IMO.
