Former Sycamore Dustin Betz to run in USA Olympic Marathon Trials on Sat.: Betz 2:42

Former Sycamore distance runner Dustin Betz has qualified and will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Los Angeles this Saturday for a chance to compete in the marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Betz hit the wall and is fading badly, meanwhile Drake grad Brogan Austin is looking good and moving up.

Wichita State grad Kellyn Taylor was leading the women's race, but has fallen to 3rd now. She holds many MVC records.

Betz runs 2:42:54 in the extreme heat of LA today, great effort!

Drake Alum Brogan Austin ran 2:24:39, great effort from him

Former Shocker Kellyn Taylor ran 2:32:56, missing the top 3

Betz wound up 96th of 105 finishers today, 2:42:54, next in front of him was Jordan Kyle from Hamilton Southeastern HS in 2:38:20, so that was a lonely run for Dustin.

Brogan Austin from Drake was a respectable 39th place

The WSU gal was 6th overall
