I live here...and I've not heard anything about this....if I did, it doesn't sound like a very good idea to me. I just don't see the value in it. What are they going to do, divide the campus down the middle? This guy wouldn't be proposing this unless there was something in it for him. What that would be, who knows.

The more I think about this, the dumber this idea gets. What's next, two men's and two women's basketball teams for the separate colleges?

An autonomous IDENTITY...personally, I like the idea. Given the demographics of Ft. Wayne, it'll probably grow & develop into one helluva school!

It has already been doing that....the next time you visit...and if you have the time...let's drive over to the IPFW campus....it is really something to see.

For NATIONAL scope & recognition, they need to trash the "IU" & "PU" association...they've grownup now, and it's time to take on a NEW identity & personality. This will NEVER happen with "IU" & "PU" in the institutional name, especially when competing for state-wide funding.

Look @ USI in Evansville now. How many years ago did they ditch the ISUE affiliation? Even after independence, it'll take a few decades to develop "equal footing" in the eyes of the public. In many ways, USI still remains in the shadow of UE, while the reality is, they have many academic specialty programs that top UE.

Personally, I believe it would have a negative affect on ISU in the long run.

I think the damage is already done; kids going to ipfw are just as likely to go to fwu in the future.

there is an over-abundance in state-funded colleges in the state of indiana, with it's current (and projected) population base, how in the hell can the legislature justify it?
