Wow. Reading that discussion, I didn't realize Loyola only had 1 NCAA Tournament in a 50-year stretch before 2018.

Good article.

Yeah Loyola was horrible for 50 years of basketball. Then got a unicorn player in Krutwig, lucked out with a good bracket with upsets to boot, hit buzzer beaters (hey kudos to them), and had a story American could fall in love with with Sister Jean. In other words they caught lightning in a bottle for one magical month. I think their S16 in 2021 made it seem that they were a program to stay. I'll give credit where credit is due and beating a #1 Illinois seed was a nice win for them but then they get a #12 in the S16 round and crapped the bed.

Now a glaring deficiency is shining on their young coach that was masked by winning players in 2022. A rapidly health declining Sister Jean paints a portrait of an end to an era for the Ramblers. Don't think the A10 is going to be too kind for them, I see them being another UMASS. A school with pretty good name recognition, solid moments in time, but then you look and say "They've only been to 1 NCAA in the past 23 years?"

Their Final 4 year they also had like 5-6 legit guards. I know people cherish bigs, but guards run college hoops and always will.
