Wouldn’t have been my pick but no one asked me. I liked Jon Ford - he did a good job in my opinion.
Couldn't get a good sense from the articles if Ford was 'nudged' by the party or was ready for something new...

Indiana still have a part-time assembly/legislature?

From what Jon told me he got a job opportunity that he couldn’t refuse. I think he basically parlayed his political career into a nice professional / legislative type of role but not 100% certain on the specifics… I’d say they wanted to be very strategic once he notified them he wasn’t going to be seeking reelection.

I voted for Jon Ford in my very first election in high school, which he of course won, by a very slim margin. Tim Skinner was the incumbent and I believe it was considered a pretty big upset win. Ford barely lost the Vigo County vote that year, but northern Clay County carried him over the finish line.
