I've been seeing a lot of lists recently talking about the best states and/or areas to recruit for college basketball. In years past, you'd normally see Indiana in the Top 10 and likewise, you'd see the Indianapolis metro usually in the Top 10 as well when looking are areas. However, as of late, I'm not seeing either mentioned with any frequency.
While you can definitely say it's just opinion and anecdotal, usually these coaches or recruiting analysts have their experiences to back up their beliefs. I'll also mention I've noticed fewer Indiana kids being listed in the national Top 100 / 250 lists compared to years past.
Found this interesting visualization from 2022 and it looks like the Indianapolis area falls outside the Top 10 but is likely within the Top 15.
What do you guys think? Do you feel like the talent is lessening locally? Is it because kids are pursuing other sports? Not playing sports at all?
