Just ask the people in Uvalde where the police were there and were reluctant to engage the shooter. Or ask the people of Parkland where an officer was there and afraid to engage the shooter. People who are pro-gun talk a lot about the need for a good guy with a gun, but don't acknowledge how dangerous it is to engage an active shooter who is likely better armed than they are.
So it’s better to sit there and be a target with no hope of defending yourself? I’d rather go down fighting back.

And the cops in Uvalde and Parkland were cowards who were derelict in their duty and let children die rather than face the shooters. That’s been pretty well established.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes (or hours) away.

It's better to restrict access to assault weapons rather than arm teachers to have shoot outs in the halls of the school. At the end of the day, this isn't really about protecting peoples' right to bear arms but protecting their ability to play with machine guns.

That’s quite the stretch. Particularly since I’ve never heard anyone bring that up but you. I’d say you are simply scared of the bogeyman. And not the one that breaks the law. You’re scared of people who have never broken a law.

Wise to be scared of the ones who are mentally ill and have an AK or have someone they're close to who is mentally ill and has access to their weapons.

Agree - far too many knuckleheads think 'The Purge' is occurring in their neighborhood on an hourly, daily basis.

And then you have THIS "fine citizen":

I Followed the zoom.panel discussion last Monday night. Out chief of Police, Shawn Keen, said that he felt that even if teachers had gun training once a year that he felt it would be insufficient training for the teachers .... nope i do.not think we need to spend money in this direction. I believe our Chief of Police has enough experience to know what he is talking about
