Here's an article published today in the Cedar Valley, Iowa paper where it talks about Rick Heller, his family and the prospects of outdoor practice:
HELLER DOING WELL: Rick Heller has a beautiful home in Terre Haute, Indiana State is pumping $2 million into its baseball stadium, and the Hellers (Rick and Rachelle) are the proud parents of a 3-month-old baby girl, Vivienne. Yes, life appears to be very good for the native Iowan and the Sycamores' new head baseball coach.
"Yeah, that's fair to say," Heller remarked with a smile prior to Sunday's basketball game between Indiana State and Northern Iowa.
Heller lost his job at Northern Iowa last spring when the school dropped its 103-year-old baseball program, but he wasn't out of work for long. He initially agreed to become an assistant coach at Creighton, then was hired as Indiana State's new head coach in August.
He's still in the Missouri Valley Conference, ready to start practice this Friday. Terre Haute is enjoying a mild winter and Heller plans to practice outside if the weather continues to cooperate. "We'll go outside if it's 40," he said, anxious to get going.
