Lot of interesting reads over on the www.shockernet.net forum after their 2nd loss in a tournament this week. Appears that Marshall no longer walks on water?

:shocked2:

some of the WSU fans are physically threatening each other over there now. I don't think we've gone that far have we?

The fact that other fans enjoy watching other fans "implode" is laughable to me. I don't wish that on anyone, not even IU fans. I can't say I cheer for them to win or would wish any success on them but I sure don't gloat in any other team, athlete, schools demise. That is a joke to me. So reading a forum to do just that is just not entertaining to me.

As for WSU as a team, they are beat up and played a fairly difficult non-conference if they get healthy they will be just fine!

IU will be okay also if they ever decide to defend. Big 10 play is different than non-conference play - it's a physical league and I think they will be competitive.

I agree with some of your points and I disagree with some others you make. I WILL ALWAYS ENJOY SHOCKER FANS IMPLODING IN ANY SPORT and I don't need your approval or commentary to tell me I am wrong. The fact that they have some injuries is no excuse for their poor play. It comes with the territory.

The Shockers clearly miss Cotton. His defense and leadership we're key for them during their last 4 years of success. Brown, McDuffie, etc. just haven't been able to replace him. Also, they're a shitty ball handling team without Vanvleet. They still don't really have a suitable backup PG.

Fair enough.

Decent chance Wichita State loses tomorrow to Iowa, which would run their losing streak to four games. They have several tough games coming up. As for Indiana, they've been fairly average for quite a few seasons now. Did anyone really expect that to change all that much?

I see the Shockers lost by 23 to Iowa. That's four losses in a row. Think it's going to get a whole lot uglier for them before it gets better.

They've proven to be quite beatable in the early going though. What's more shocking, pun intended, is four straight losses for WSU.

Exhibit A: Reasons I don't get any enjoyment at all over watching other teams struggle.http://www.sycamorepride.com/showth...ern-Illinois-(0-3)/page10&p=234901#post234901

Exhibit B: A season opening home loss to IUPUI. Hard to enjoy watching another fan base struggle when your own fan base is struggling to keep its head above water as it is. http://www.sycamorepride.com/showth...na-State-(0-0)-vs-IUPUI-(0-0)&highlight=IUPUI

Exhibit C: Lansing said after this game that his team needed to "look in the mirror", perhaps they didn't look hard enough or need to look again because this is 3 terrible losses in our last 7 played. http://www.sycamorepride.com/showth...yola-Ramblers-(18-12)/page14&highlight=Loyola

Need I say more...

I'm a little surprised our fan base has had such a meltdown. I didn't have real high expectations coming into the season. We have a couple of good players, but we're incredibly thin and inexperienced in the front court and I don't see much leadership on this team. To me, leadership is the key element to ensuring you always play with effort and focus and don't have so many let down games. Like too many ISU teams over the years, this one doesn't play with much confidence.

Prior to the season, fans look at player strengths like how many players do we have who can shoot it from outside, play good defense, rebound, etc. There was also talk about our experience. People said we have a bunch of junior college guys, that's experience, they'll be better than what we've had. That's silly. There is far more to it than that. You can't simply look at numbers to determine how a guy is going to perform. That's why you don't really know what you'll have until the season starts.

While I agree with you on all accounts I would say you were in the minority (if I am still allowed to use that word) as far as your opinion on this roster is concerned. Maybe you recall about all of the Gant/Kitch conversations and how we were upgrading basically at every position and we didn't really lose anything?

We have a really good group of people on here, I like them all and they are a passionate bunch. Many of them speak from the heart rather than the brain and that tends to confuse people into thinking we are going to be better than we really are.

My point was - I never gloat over any fan base "melting down" because as a Sycamore fan with or without expectations a meltdown could be just days away. I am sorry but a team doesn't need high expectations to expect to beat IUPUI and EIU. Folks on here should really have every right to react negatively to those losses!

I was certainly disappointed by the losses as well, so I don't mean to suggest people shouldn't react negatively. I'm just not surprised enough to rant with others on this board. This very much looks like some of the ISU teams we've had in the past. They have the talent to expect to win those games, but not the will, determination or focus to make sure it happens. Usually it all comes down to the level of defensive effort and focus with ISU regardless of how good we are in a particular year.

Just trying not to hurt myself patting myself on the back... It's difficult.

Oh and as for the Shocker fans imploding... Hope you all got enjoyment out of that also while it lasted. LOL!

And if the Shockers stay healthy...and they roll up the MVC regular season conference, and the MVC Tournament, look for them to get at least a 4 Seed.

If they would get something as low as an 8 Seed, they would be getting robbed!!!

Four seems high to me, six would seem more likely. Don't count out the Aces just yet though.
