Nice piece. What also isn't mentioned in this piece is if any of these teams make it to a bowl game, they often end up paying to go. Unlike the BCS bowls, a lot of these schools don't have national followings and can't sell out ticket allotments. Since they pay for the tickets up front, after you add in all of the cost for travel and what not, they usually end up losing their ass.
 
And yet so many fans of FCS schools (yeah, Missouri State) are clamoring to move up to FBS. Taking off the rose colored glasses of a fan, that move seems like a bad move, really bad...

That provides a nice context fo the discussion about putting football players in a hotel room for home games, doesn't it?

But actually, those facts are so well known to me now, that it's no longer very interesting to read about them. MAC football is an indefensible, pathetic joke. At this point, I would like to see an examination of the various interests and actors that keep MAC football in existence and sucking down student and tax-payer money. Now that would be an interesting article.
