Local players Jake Odom, RJ Mahurin and Austin Akers are playing in an event in Knightstown in a week. The team rosters for both Boys and Girls are quite impressive.

Probably worth the trip over to Knightstown.

Knightstown¹s Historic Hoosier Gym, movie home of the "Hoosiers" Hickory Huskers, is once again the site of the Hoosiers' Reunion All-Star Classic. This fourth annual girls'/boys' doubleheader will take place on Friday, June 5, 2009. The girls' game starts at 6:00 p.m. The boys' game follows at 8:00 p.m. (local Knightstown time).

New Castle High School coaches Steve Bennett (boys) and Curt Bell (girls), along with Knightstown girls¹ coach Dawn Basicker and Mooresville boys¹ coach Bob Carter, will guide the four teams.

Highlighting the girls¹ contest are 2009 Indiana Miss Basketball Skylar Diggins from South Bend Washington, a Notre Dame recruit, and Miss Basketball runner-up Kelly Faris (Heritage Christian) who will attend Connecticut.
Eight more 2009 Indiana All-Stars were selected for the first half of this doubleheader. They are Alex Bentley, Ben Davis (PENN STATE), Skyler Gick, Benton Central (VALPARAISO), Dragana Grbic, Terre Haute South (BUTLER), Ta¹Kenya Nixon, Michigan City (EASTERN ILLINOIS), Courtney Osborn, Hamilton Southeastern (MIAMI of Ohio), Aulani Sinclair, Eminence (INDIANA), Chrissy Steffen, Carmel (BOWLING GREEN) and Lily Svete, Penn (FLORIDA).

The 2009 Indiana Mr. Basketball Jordan Hulls of Bloomington South will participate in the second contest before heading to Indiana University this fall. Fellow IU recruit Derek Elston (Tipton) joins Hulls as do Purdue recruits Patrick Bade (Franklin Central) and D.J. Byrd (North Montgomery).

Six other 2009 Indiana All-Stars invited to participate include Bruce Grimm Jr., Rochester (EAST TENNESEE STATE), Matt Kenney, Mooresville (VALPARAISO), Jake Odum, Terre Haute South (INDIANA STATE), Colt Ryan, Batesville (EVANSVILLE), Stephan Van Treese, Lawrence North (LOUISVILLE), and Scott Wood, Marion (NORTH CAROLINA STATE).

Found this box score but no news write-up anywhere so far. If I read it correctly Jake had 4 points (2-3 on 2 pt. FG, 0-2 3FG) but gathered 9 RB, made 6 assists, 2 steals ..........and oh, made 3 TO's while selling popcorn at halftime. RJ had 8 points (3-9 2FG, 2-2 FT) and grabbed 5 RB.

That is exactly the same kind of play you are going to get from Odum in college. He is not going to score - or have to score a bunch of points. He will get a few triple doubles in his career - I don't doubt that one bit.

Agreed................and if the defense takes away some things and makes him score, he can "git 'r done".
