liked the score....liked the way the guys played.....i left midway through the fourth quarter...had to go write a late story on the colts player cuts.....but i was able to see most of the game.....

i really liked the way they responded after st. joe's scored on the long touchdown pass....the blocked punt for a touchdown was big......in the quincy game last year, isu had a nice lead but let it get away from them....tonight they took it to st. joe's.....forced the action.......didnt sit back....they didnt allow st. joe's a chance to take advantage of any momentum gained from the touchdown throw and catch......

and this time it was the opposing team that committed the big penalties....made the mental mistakes....and lost its cool....one of the st. joe's players was tossed from the game.....

a nice three-pronged rushing attack with gates, bell and cheesebrough......having bell and cheesebrough coming in....in the second half...after the opposing defense was worn down......and isu had runners with fresh legs.....

the passing game was definitely better...liked the way that isu was trying to find ways to get the ball to gates, bell and cheesebrough out on the edge....put the ball in their hands...and let them do something with it.....

there is still plenty of work to be done.....but i really liked what i saw out there....on saturday night...nice crowd too......

i'm happy for trent and everybody....good luck next week in cincy guys!!!!!......wish i could go...but i have a grandson's birthday.....can't miss a two-year old's party....lol.....

great game tonight!!
the only problem i have is with the kicking game. we cant be missing extra points, especially when its in a close game

Agreed. It could cost a game. We made plenty, too, so I'm going to remain optimistic. We had some nice punts from Davis, so hopefully that won't be a big problem area as feared.

TJ, missed getting to meet you again. Sorry about that...I'll catch up with you at some point. Great night for the TREES!

That is a different product on the field... We very well may have not been able to sustain our early lead last year vs. Q. But this is a different team, you really can't even compare the to. They now have another back to compliment Gates and you can't just stack the box on us because we have some sort of a passing attack. As long as we can have a 2 headed attack we will win a few more ball games for sure.

It seemed to me like all that support that Terre Haute Rex got this summer kind of carried over to the Sycamores game last night. That is as many people tailgating before a Sycamores football game than I have ever seen on a non homecoming game.

Only time will tell if the people come back - but a great start to the season!

I drove by the field around 3:30, and the parking lot was already packed. I got to the stadium around 6:15, and we had to park in the Rural King parking lot. They even had to have fans park behind the wall. That had to be the best, I have seen an ISU football team play in a while.

I loved the fact that for the first time since at least since 2004 (and maybe 2003 or 2002) our second and some third string guys actually took the field! It's always great to be ahead so far that it's safe to put in a second D and O....not just 2-3 guys, but the whole unit! AWESOME! I'm sure those guys appreciated the playing time as well. Also, our second string O scored and the D held them! A great night all the way around minus a missed assignment on that long TD from St. Joe's, the two missed XP's, and one kickoff that was pretty short.

This point should not be overlooked. When was the last time that our second string not only spelled the 1st string, giving them rest, but also getting game experience. That is a luxury in more than one way.
