I know, I know, I have to learn to accept the world we're living in with regards to transfers, but an incoming freshman (who should probably be redshirting at Xavier if we're being honest) threatening to transfer because he wants play time comes off as a "4 schools in 4 years" kind of kid to me. Not sure he's worth investing in.

He likely committed with the expectation that he would be playing only for Xavier to recruit Conwell, Maddox, and Foster... all who play/played his position. So I don't fault him for asking for his release if that was the reason he chose Xavier.

Their fans also seem to be stating he would have played as a freshman. It's not often we have a chance at a fringe Top 100 HS player.
 
Let's be honest, almost everyone we recruit from now on has a high likelihood of being a "4 in 4" player. Chasing the bag...

Not a snarky comment just a question. In your opinion can we compete for a 4 star with our current transition and everyone knowing our NIL $ due to the fat bald midget at SLU? Wouldn’t you think those players are cherry picks for A-10 Big East and bigger. I don’t know the answer or have an opinion just curious your opinion and others opinion. I guess I kinda put Birmingham in this category as well.
 
He was a high school teammate of Gabe Cupps, the freshmen PG of IU. He is definitely worth checking on. He shoots the 3 well too. He'd be a nice fit.

Finite spots man and in this situation, he has an expectation to play as a freshman apparently so that Venn diagram is even smaller at this point. The reality, until something changes, is that EVERY kid is here for a good time, not for a long time.

If his evaluation is he can play here right away and contribute, you may be able to steal him if you can offer him what other schools can't. Further, Graves said if a kid is in the position to get a big pay day, it's likely because he balled out. I'll roll the dice.
 
Just like the good players will hit the portal, the coaching staff needs to make sure the bad players hit the portal too in the future. No reason to be loyal to anyone at this point. Either produce and/or show potential or get out of Dodge. Every player we will have in the future is on a 1 year deal and on borrowed time if they are really good. Remember fellas just like with women, "they're never really yours, it's just your turn".
