If he stays in-house do you think Brian Sheppard will be considered. Really young. if not I wouldn't rule out him going to WKU. NOT saying I like the idea, just ruminating...

A couple FCS guys I'd like to see:

Jamey Chadwell of Charleston Southern is a guy I think I'd like to see on his list. If I recall from the salary thread, he makes sub $150k at CSU, he's young and his teams have been pretty solid during his brief time there.

I think I'd also take a long look at NDSU's and SDSU's coordinators, NDSU OC Tim Polasek in particular. He's obviously doing something right up there in Fargo.

I could name a ton of FBS people but as has been mentioned most of the coordinators make $400k up to a million so getting them to come here for $225-250k would be a really tough sell unless they really wanted to be a head coach. Since Clink just came from NC State, their OC may be a guy that is looking for his first head coaching gig. He has roots in the Gus Malzahn/Auburn offense. His name is Eli Drinkwitz but like mentioned, he makes $450k/year.

I heard Chadwell is interested in the UTC job. probably a better place right now

If Clink makes this move, then I will seriously question his ability to be our AD. Can't imagine there aren't at least (insert any number you want) more worthwhile candidates.

Jesse Minter. D-Coordinator at Georgia State and ISU under Miles. Young and up and coming coach. Dad also in the biz. Thought Jesse did a great job at ISU and defense was never one of the problem areas for Miles' teams. Heard Jesse really wants the job.

Sanford made 280k at ISU. IMO Sheppard will not be considered for the job here and Clinksdale will look to put his mark on this program with the choice. Minter could be a good choice, Cameron no way at all, I like the guy from Charleston Southern too! He might look at successful D2 programs too.

I don't see Minter in the same solar system as our head cosching job at least at this point in his career. I think Steve Englehart would be a good pickup but i don't know if we could get him interested. He took Florida Tech from no program to the D2 playoffs this year 4 of the program with 3 winning seasons and 5-6 in his inaugural season. I cant fathom someone wanting to leave that weather though.

Might be a good time to evaluate what level of football ISU plays? Let me rephrase that; it should have been evaluated way before now & the answer is non-scholarship. Forget the spending millions for an on campus stadium. That will not bring people in. FCS is "B-Team" football and any reward is not worth the expense to get a ring. Need to be realistic.
