The IHSAA is always 50 yrs. behind the "norm"...:disturbed:

For instance, FHSAA Baseball had this rule (10 run "mercy" after 3 1/2 innings) and "Speed Up Rules" long before the IHSAA. In fact, I don't recall the IHSAA ever adopting "Speed Up Rules" for Baseball. 2010 was my last season, so they might've added the latter since.

Most likely advanced chronological disorder. Just sayin' it could be.

I called HS seasons in both FL & IN during the 90's. I know for sure that the IHSAA had NOT adopted either at that time, although the FHSAA had. I specifically recall a game @ Rockville that was a blowout w/no field lights, which was how I discovered the IHSAA/FHSAA rule differences. There was no "mercy" or "speed up" available and we had NOT played 4 complete innings. As a result, the game was "suspended" and they had to reschedule as a DH later that season (home/away) to complete the game.

"Speed up" & "mercy" tools would've COMPLETED the game within reasonable time limits. Northview's Mitch Lancaster was the Baseball HC @ Rockville then.
