I've been saying that for years about kids who get pushed by fans and coaches to go to a higher level program when they should really go to a medium or smaller program where they can get a better chance to play and contribute quicker.
Often times, we get some of those kids back on the rebound after they go to a so-called major program and wind up sitting on the bench. And it's not like Trent and his coaching staff haven't been or don't recruit the best high school programs in the state. They do. Trent has great ties to Warren Central and other central Indiana big-time high school programs from his days at Notre Dame, Stanford and Washington. Indiana was Trent's recruiting base when he was an assistant at those schools.
It's like the media thing. Indiana State can go to the top high school programs in the state, hang out, live there, and recruit players. But if the players keep hearing from fans or their high school coaches that they're "better" (talent-wise) and should go to a bigger school, often times kids listen to that.
