I'm thinking something, but I'll keep it to myself...

with a little inside knowledge, considering half of my engineering classes are filled with international students. There is a solid 10% that work their butts off to do well. The other 90% just slow our classes down to a point where in one class I learned the same thing on week 5 that I did on week 15 because half of our class couldn't figure out how to find one variable given everything else in a mathematical equation. Those 10% from above are pretty awesome and I don't mind working with them. The other 90%..well..

Do they drive Trans-Ams like they did back in my days???? lol
Oh, that is way too funny NWI. That is EXACTLY what I thought when I read the original post. Can't speak for the International students now but I can tell you that they worked hard back in my days. ...........and YES, they did drive Trans Am's! Thanks for the chuckle, NWI!

The number is going to continue to grow. Several grad programs folks travelled this Summer out of the country to get students here. It looks like there marketing attempts have been successful. While some of you aren't happy with this, it's money for the school. I'd rather them go after good students then take on higher risk, low performing HS kids from the US as long as they're getting quality students.

Do any of you know if they charge DOUBLE for out-of-state students? I am assuming that the cost difference is still significant. I hope that they "see the light" and finally start recruiting non-Indiana students again. It's a natural. Coming from Pennsylvania, my tuition was double what Indiana students paid and in 1966-67, their marketing was aimed directly at PA, NY, Washington DC etc. My sisters went to DUKE and SYRACUSE and despite paying double, my cost was a pittance compared to those schools. Two huge things Indiana State benefits by doing it. MORE MONEY for starters and the out-of-state students DO NOT GO HOME ON WEEKENDS. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
