Of course we are hosting the NCAA mens and womens cross country championship meet again in November

Must've changed their policy about having a mandatory ARTIFICIAL INFIELD, thus lending greater adaptability to overcoming "rain outs." Had ISU/Warn Field not had this feature, the tournament would probably STILL be running!

Missouri State to Host 2017 MVC Baseball Championship Tourney

BASEBALL: The 2017 MVC Baseball Championship will be played at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo. Missouri State will host the tournament, which will be played May 24-27. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The championship features all eight teams and all games will be aired on The Valley on ESPN3. Hammons Field became home to the Missouri State Bears baseball team in 2004. The facility was built by Missouri State alumnus John Q. Hammons. The premier college ballpark has 8,000 seats, 28 luxury suites, five party decks, six food and beverage outlets, a souvenir shop and a club lounge. Hammons Field features offices for the coaching staff as well as separate dressing room and training facilities for the Bears. The Springfield Cardinals, St. Louis Cardinals AA affiliate, has played its home games there since 2005.

Missouri State last hosted in 2012. Beautiful AAA facility.

One that i find interesting is MSU hosting the outdoor track and field championships, only because they don't have mens team. They do have what appears to be a very nice track & field facility but it should go to a school that has BOTH men & women's teams'.

As mentioned in the other "thread, my only concern is the RAINOUT problem associated w/ a natural surface infield. As you saw @ ISU's field, the game can be started again in 30 min or less! Anyone that's ever endured a 4-hr. "rainout threat" while camping out in a 'friggin dugout knows what I'm talking about, and how this impacts performance once a restart finally occurs. Too much wasted time...

How much do we hurt / not help our opportunities by not sponsoring a men's soccer, golf or men's & women's tennis programs?

Since they do have a women's team it technically does have to rotate there as appropriate. Each MVC team with a track team does get to host when it's their time.
