I believe it aired during the FOX pre-game show. I stream using YouTube TV and I'm sure it was local thru FOX Evansville affiliate...don't care...was pleasantly surprised and hope to see this become a trend.

They are running on all Electronic Billboards here in Evansville. I saw it on the Diamond/ St Joe and also over on the eastside. Gotta get all those UE recruits! LOL!Saw a advertisement for Indiana State on an electronic billboard at Diamond and St. Joe here in Evansville yesterday...first one I've seen in E'ville in about 2-3 years.
Great!!! If you want to build back up that enrollment you have to let folks know you're out there. It's a start.
Can also confirm that I saw an ISU electronic billboard in the airport this morning. Didn't see any ISU gear in any of the airport stores selling college gear unfortunately.Electronic Billboards in Indianapolis Airport running a bunch of Indiana State ads
Absolutely agree with ALL of your points, but I wouldn't discount static (or semi-static) advertisements being an effective mechanism to draw someone's interest. Kids closing in on college are usually DRIVERS (though not as much as they used to be, but that's another story), so they have opportunities to see billboards as well. I spent the last 6-8 years of my career fighting to get students to extract their face from a screen while attempting to deliver content... some of which was aimed at preventing them from serious injury in the industrial environment of my classroom. For a few years during the Dr. Bradley years, there was an ISU billboard prominently displayed near our campus. On a few occasions when mentioning my college experience came up with students, I've had them mention, "I saw their billboard out on the Lloyd (Expressway)". Obviously, electronic media is todays teenagers "go to" for info about anything, but as you mentioned earlier, their targeted algo might not expose them to this specific information. A billboard is there for everyone to see.Sincere question... do you think billboards are effective for today's youth that never look up from their screens when they're in a car?
I'd be blasting the popular apps where they are at -- YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat... those have been the big four for about a decade now. Hell, I'd create a Sycamore Sam profile on Tinder/Bumble selling Indiana State before going the billboard route I think.

Over the years, I've felt that a very underutilized way to market to high school kids DIRECTLY, was to use specific departments at a university to provide presentations in the high school vs. sending a general recruitment ambassador to give a general presentation. Having someone from the School of Technology, the School of Business, School of Nursing, etc. make specific presentations to targeted groups would expose them to this information....information they oftentimes didn't know existed.
The lack of ISU gear is a sore spot with me. Other than the bookstore and Pacesetter, ISU stuff is hard to come by in Terre Haute. While not in great abundance, there are almost always USI and UE items available at the local Walmart and Meijer stores here. The availability of such ISU items at said stores in Terre Haute is usually very slim to none. I asked someone at the Hwy 41 Wally once where their ISU stuff was. She directed me to it and said, "It sells, but we never get very much of it". Granted, that might be more of a Wally issue and out of ISU's control. Can also confirm that I saw an ISU electronic billboard in the airport this morning. The presentations we got over the years were very generic and only lukewarm in terms of specific info (that goes for MOST colleges). Heck, ISU could offer a marketing class/practicum and use those students as reps to deliver presentations related to specific departments. This is an awesome idea actually. They obviously have them on campus visits but doing them in the wild could be huge. Would almost require those departments hiring their own marketing groups though so would be a tough spend. I think it would pay off immensely though if you were strategic with it.
Like doing a SoB thing at Carmel High School, for example could potentially have a high ROI. Especially if you could get other interested folks from Zionsville, Noblesville, Fishers, HSE, et al.

That is a good point..."bombarded" is a good way to put it.I'm actually not a huge fan of physical or even web advertising as I've used both and have seen very little ROI. IMO, people are pretty desensitized to advertising because we've been absolutely bombarded with it. If you're going to do it, it needs to be "hidden in plain sight" almost.

Yes, they do.doesn't the bookstore ON campus sell gear online? granted not the best method (for some) but it's another source
Yes, they do.
While attending a game last year, I stopped in. A long sleeve 1/4 zip was 130.oo. Obviously had some cheaper items, but vast majority of them were too rich for my blood.
