Fair enoughGood question… But I’ve been asked not to talk about it anymore by needles and then yourself. So I’m good here - I guess we will just wait and see what happens.
I won’t bring it up again this season.

Hopefully this won’t happen this season. Really nothing new to beat down that’s new material. You and I have been called some pretty wicked names by this group for supporting ISU football.Literally nobody outside of the same people that have been running this discussion into the ground for the past 20+ years. I guess if I see the president or AD at MS on Thursday I'll ask them if the Ball State game means we're dropping the program or going to the Pioneer League. Probably the dumbest take I've ever seen on this board and that's saying a lot.
The issue as I see and read it is that football draws money away from basketball and even baseball, whose people are more vocal. It’s a good post. As long as the team plays, let the fans who enjoy the team cheer and support them. Those that only focus on basketball have their forum. Problem is they won’t.
In a simplified answer, yes, you are correct. The diehard football guys take the call for cutting/reducing cost for football personal, which I can understand when you have a strong tie to the program. But the atmosphere around college sports, especially at the D1 mid major level, is calling for hard decisions to be made. In a game of financial chess, you don't want to show up with checkers in the satchel. I wish we had the big donors to help make all this a non issue, but we don't so we have to be wise with what money there is. As much as it may pain football guys to admit, the football program doesn't come close to giving our university the exposure basketball and baseball do and that has a lot to do with playing at the FCS level.....where we haven't been competitive the majority of the last few decades. Its unfortunate the times have become what they are but, none-the-less, here we are. It appears a line has to be drawn in the sand when deciding what is best for our university athletics' future. Just because we stand on different sides of that line, doesn't mean we don't care. The issue as I see and read it is that football draws money away from basketball and even baseball, whose people are more vocal.
Me, too. I've been to more football games cheering on our Sycamores than I could ever count. I enjoy football and the atmosphere around it, which is why having the opinion I do about the football program's future hurts so much. It's quite the internal struggle.I wish football was more consistently successful. The 2014 playoff season was one of the best I’ve experienced in any sport. I went to every game except one including trips to Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Illinois. I know it’s hard, especially in this conference, but it would be great.
Same here. I’ve been associated with the program since 1976 when my older brothers best friend played at ISU. I was on my high school JV team, and coming to Terre Haute to watch them play was big for me. I tried to defend the program through the years on this site, but ended up getting a lot of cheap shot names pretty much calling me idiotic because I really don’t see with today’s state of college sports (NIL) that a little bit more money to the basketball and baseball programs will get better results. Like SSOM said, you still have to add more men’s sports if you drop football to stay in D-1 status,Me, too. I've been to more football games cheering on our Sycamores than I could ever count. Very difficult task for 6. Team looks better, schedule is brutal. So anyway.. how does the team look? Any chance we can win 6.? Hopefully tonight's scrimmage goes well.
Has ISU football been put on the chopping block by the administration or just by this board?UNI and EIU have never even discussed getting rid of football to my knowledge, that’s the difference. I’d also imagine UNI doesn’t need a buy game every year to make the math work - whereas Indiana State is definitely reliant upon the buy games. They didn’t just skip 2028 by happen chance - that’s absolutely wild you think they just skipped it.
They all but telegraphed the playbook… Gives them time to get all the NCAA non scholarship and conference affiliation paperwork figured out.
The bottom line is this - don’t look at other programs that are not on the chopping block buy game schedule and try and draw any inferences… That’s careless - InState Football is not everyone else.
This board over and over!Has ISU football been put on the chopping block by the administration or just by this board?
A scrimmage we are a blocked field goal away from trailing at halftime lolSo anyway.. how does the team look? Any chance we can win 6.? Hopefully tonight's scrimmage goes well.
