Prospect League Coming to the Haute?

Anyone notice the flier for the 2009 State Baseball Golf Outing?
Friday 8 May; as part of the outing; State reps will be meeting w/ reps from the Prospect League (www.prospectleague.com) ;
It one of the summer collegiate wooden bat leagues.

Pure speculation but I’d bet there’s a plan to put a team in the Haute; it’s basically in the middle of the league footprint (PA to MO)
and it would even out the league, currently an 11-team league

There’s a team in Richmond and Huntingburg, IN; several in Illinois, central and northern
It would be cheaper to run than a Frontier League franchise; the same or better talent than the MVC

Thoughts?

Anyone know how many of this year's Sycamores will be playing the the various collegiate summer leagues? Was thinking several did last summer

I was certainly expecting a little more competition out of Southern Indiana! Even though they are D2, they appear to have good numbers. As for the Oakland City team...they look like the team the Globetrotters always played...as they have only won 11 games or so this year and they only have a roster which shows around 20 players! I don't want to say too much...I might jinx it for tonight! I would certainly like to see better caliber competition than Oakland City put on the schedule. But, who else was available? That may be the problem.

I don't care if we're getting some easy late season wins. I'll take a 27-13 record with 11 games to play and be quite pleased.

Bats & Arms

I don't see anything wrong w/ taking a "breather" at this stage in our season and taking a refresher. Let's us put things into perspective...and the Trees are clearly in a pretty fair position for the MVC post-season! :violent:
