The All-MVC Level
Just curious -- the ISU schedule given out at the start of the season listed this game as either on ESPNU or ESPN3. Big matchup, big crowd I'm sure, good PR for the MVC ..............but the game is not on ESPNU (SIU vs Drake is on there -- there won't 2000 people there).
Our game is only online ESPN3 ------ why would either the MVC or ESPN make that decision ? ? ? ? ? ?

Probably for the best. Last time we went to Wichita and it was a "big game" and on espn2 we couldn't even score 50 points and we did nothing to earn any sort of national respect.

Regardless... Our game is the BETTER product, bullish*t that we're NOT on ESPNU

Yes we can watch the game online, but America won't have a clue its going on -- at least on ESPNU its probably playing on TV screens in bars across the nation and folks might at least glance at it.
Plus, on ESPNU the picture quality won't degrade every few minutes or freeze entirely.

Exactly -- that's the biggest problem with espn3; its "available" everywhere but it isn't ON anywhere.

Can you even get ESPNU online? If not, ESPN3 works better for me. We dropped Directv in October and I subscribed to Sling TV. I actually get more channels with it for $20 a month than I did with Directv's basic package ($50 plus a month). And I use my HDMI cable to watch ESPN3 games on my TV now. We watch TV, but not enough to make it worth paying around $100 or more a month like we did a few years ago. With Sling you get ESPN and ESPN2, both History channels (although they're not what they once were), AMC, A&E, Food Network, HGTV, Travel channel, CNN and several more.

Bent -- ESPN3 may be a better deal for you & other ISU fans, but that is not the point of this thread. Its about what gets ISU & the MVC the best PR across the nation. 4Q is correct .................. ESPN3 is available but not ON everywhere. You must be searching for the WSU vs ISU on your computer.
Or you can watch on your TV at home or at the local sports bar as SIU battles Drake in front of a few dozen fans in a game that matters little to anyone -- not even folks in Des Moines or students at Drake.

*** By the way, checked with the Stacked Pickle in Carmel (Old Meridan) last night and the manager assured me they could and would pull in the ISU game today on at least one of their TV's. I'm planning to go over to watch.

First, it comes down to the date of the announced January ESPN Netflexed Schedule, which was January 5th.

As of January 5th, ISU was 7-7 (1-1). WSU was 8-5 (2-0). Southern Illinois was 13-2 (2-0) and Drake was 5-9 (0-2).

With that said, I believe they (those who make the decisions) simply made the decision to try to spread the wealth a little. Otherwise, they'd just give WSU the nationally televised game everytime with every Netflex schedule. Until we're proving our worth on an extremely consistent basis, I think we gotta be happy with an ESPNU HOME game (Jan. 24th) and some ESPN3 games produced by ESPN which include actual MVC announcers.

We gotta look at ourselves more than the powers that be.....had we not shit the bed vs the likes of Eastern Illinois and IUPUI (and others), then we'd probably bellying up to the bar at our favorite local watering hole and rooting on our Sycamores with Mark Adams* making the call on The U.

*I'm not worried about whether or not any one particular person does or does not like Mark Adams**, I'm just letting you know who'll probably be calling the SIU game today.

**I like Mark Adams.

Some good points there, but the MVC should NEVER allow a Drake home game to be shown on national TV. Embarrassing !

I sure hope we don't lose our next two games, or else we'll absolutely have an announced attendance of 3,500 in our 10,000 seat arena for our nationally televised game.

*** Mark Adams has no credibility. He is a hype guy and that is it.

He calls every player in the Valley one of the best in the nation at _________. Which is BS, he says it so often that it holds no weight. Every kid in the Valley is a first Team All American in the eyes of Mark Adams. Hype guy.

Sorry, just needs to be said.

I don't disagree with you, except for the "no credibility" part. He does do these things you mention, although you exaggerate a little. But you're right, he absolutely does these things.

And I think every time he does those things it takes away his "credibility". You can't say that stuff at the frequency that he does and have any? I love his enthusasum and the fact that he promotes the hell out of the MVC - but at what cost?! No one likes a homer and Mark Adams is a Valley homer IMO.

But to each his own, if you like him and enjoy him I am fine with that. I just don't like proclamations and inaccurate labels being put on Valley Players/Teams. He does a lot of that which is why he is a hype guy.

I agree with you, but honestly, with NFL playoff games on today, I doubt the game would get much attention anyway.

Sorry -- went to the Stacked Pickle -- no game -- they cannot (or will not) stream games off ESPN3 into one of their TV sets.

Sorry -- I was assured on Saturday night that would not be a problem..

Seems to me if a sports bar has WiFi (many do), then all they would need is a laptop and presto ...............ESPN3 !

Sorry to hear about the streaming issue BadenBoy. We had a pretty good gathering at Roosters in Clarksville Indiana and didn't have any issues. For that matter, Roosters went well beyond our expectations in providing a good viewing experience for all that were there. Great place to go. GREAT WINGS and refreshments! The only thing that could have made it a better experience was a Sycamore win. We'll get 'em the next time. A BIG THANKS goes out to Roosters, the alumni folks, my lovely wife and those that joined us for making this viewing possible. GO SYCAMORES!

I struggled along with him, but lost it when he said Marty Simmons was a very under rated coach......:dead:
