TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- For Indiana State senior running back Ja'Quan Keys, overcoming adversity is nothing new. While his season and career comes to a close after the announcement today by head coach Curt Mallory regarding a hip injury suffered during last weekend's victory over Southern Illinois, he exits at surely at the height of his career.

Confusing article because it only says "Career Ending" in the headline and then never explains it in the article. Is it career ending as in he'll never be able to play football again at any level or career ending because he is a senior and won't be back by season's end?

Either way it is sad news and I feel badly for him.

We're now down to our third string RB. McCoy has shown promise, but I don't know anything about the guys behind him. Have any of them even played yet this year?

Childers was the one I was excited about coming out of Chicago St. Rita. They are usually a very well coached and talented program.

Tough for a strong young man who has fought through his share of difficulties. He has been a joy to watch. Had to be all conference at the end of the year.
Nice to know he will be pursuing a Masters at ISU.

Wow, horrible news on Ja'Quan. Great kid and tough runner. Best in MVFC if not FCS. Wish him the best.

Now, tough spot for the offense having lost 2 of the best WRs (Thomas and Morgan) and now both running backs (Key and Cov).

I know Mallory is hell bent to brand the program as a running team, but with the loss of Key and Cov, you gotta open it up. Can't abandon the run, but you really need to to spread it out and use what weapons Boyle has remaining in space. MoState and SoIll were putting 9 to 10 defenders in the box anyway. C'mon coaches - don't turtle up on us!

man, this is awful news, feel so bad for Mr Keys. He will be missed, but am glad he is going to be helping with ISU football yet. He has a bright future!

It's hard to find words to express my feelings for #3 at this time. Sorry seems so inadequate. It is good to know he will be on the sidelines and will complete his Master's. It's been a bad year to be a skilled player for the Sycamores.

Wow! hate to hear this for the team, and more importantly for Ja'quan. He was all in! and fun to watch. Good luck in the future young man.

I wish him nothing but the best, the kid was all heart on the field. Can't replace him, just got to try and do what you can to make up the production the brought.

Damn.

Makes me wonder about giving him 33 carries.

Are you serious? And if he didn't get injured, you would be saying..."Makes me wonder why we didn't have him carry 43 times."

Can hardly wait for your insight on Basketball this season when one of our Trees has an ALL MVC night, by shooting the ball 33 times, but blows out their ACL and MCL on a last minute play.

Very sad for both Ja'Quan and Christian.
However, very thankful that hopefully they can both live a normal life and not fight physical demons the rest of their lives.
Also thankful that both will be able to get their degree and be successful.

Horrible for coach and team.
I am sure the team is mentally drained by these two injuries, but hope that with the help of these two men and the coaching staff that the team can keep moving forward and acknowledge this as a life lesson in many ways.
It is also an opportunity for the "next man up" and for others on the team to show leadership and drive to keep building on this season and not use any of this as an excuse to give up on the season.

Don't pretend to know me. You obviously don't.

Im not saying the workload was the cause of Keys' injury but dont pretend that 33 or even 100 shots in a basketball game is even in the same conversation as 33 carries in a football game. I was concerned about his number of carries in the EIU game. im not sure we had an alternative to giving him the ball that many times.
