I realize Jacob is a local kid but maybe having the Rex in town will be an accidental benefit for the ISU program. It will definitely expose a great number of ballplayers to the facilities and the fan support.

Absolutely agree with this. The Rex operation seems to be a first rate deal for summer baseball and word spreads fast in collegiate baseball. I would expect the Sycamores to be able to snatch a JC player or transfer or two every now & then not only from those playing with the Rex but those playing against the Rex that come here to play a few times each season.

As a side note, when they find out where I am from I have had people ask me about the Rex team when I am down in Georgia visiting a 13 yr. old grandson who is heavily into a travel baseball team in the Atlanta area. He takes pitching lessons a couple of times a week from a former minor league pitcher and practices at a facility by the name of Homeplate in Peachtree City and tons of players of all ages & occasionally a Braves player on rehab also attend there.

Hayes was hitting .227 in 10 games. He was hitting 5 for 22. He also had 5 strikeouts. He didn't get much playing time, which could be why he is transferring to ISU. Anybody know more about why he is coming here?
