Is this the first time this season he's received this honor? If so, the MVC needs to wake up - assuming they've been handing it out since the beginning of the non-conference. I don't know. I get lost on how these awards work. Either way, it's great to see and I expect him to win a few more by season's end.
I have been following sycamorebeat.com and they recognize players of the week, sixth man of the week and freshmen of the week. They have recognized DL for player of the week and JO as frosh of the week[five times].
The site is full of info. You can find who statsheet recognizes under News.
Big surprise here... He's going to play is way into respectability in this league real quick. What is it that they say, respect is not gained it's earned? First he had to earn it of his own fan base and it took a couple months but I think he's earned that much to say the least at this point. Now he's starting to earn league wide respect, this is the first of many honors for #13...
Doug McDermott has won like 4 or 5 freshman of the week honors already this year...he's a very good player and for the most part consistent. I think him vs Carl Richard will be an interesting match up...Doug has the height on him but Carl has an edge in rebounding ability. They both score the ball pretty consistently.
I'm glad JO is doing as well as his is...maybe there was something to him being selected over Colt Ryan after all...

Congrats to Jake.I really think his attitude on the court will carry him as far as his talent will allow. If he stays healthy he will be very good at least, maybe more special than that. However he turns out our team will be better with him on the floor.
