Many are so worried about what the P5 will do in football (me too), but the truth is that separation is really already a done deal. Except for a few money games for lower FBS schools and us FCS'ers they are already a separate "league". Where they are still struggling to separate is in Div I basketball -- they are almost desperate to find a way to cut the mid-majors out as much as possible. No home & home series, strict limit on at-large bids for NCAA, limit TV expousure (wonder why ISU vs IU is not on regular Big Ten Network tonight ? ? ?), bad seeding,on and on.
Their plan is creeping along -- because of the success of mid-majors in March Madness and the love the public has for that they have to move slowly. But that is where the real danger lies in my opinion. Keep throwing out ideas like the one here ...over and over again in different forms, continue the things I mentioned above and we'll wake up one day with that "Super College League" in football AND basketball .....today's tough situations for mid-majors like ISU will look like glory days compared to where we may find ourselves in 10 -- 12 years.
In my opinion (I've said this before) the mid-major leaders (AD's / coaches / Presidents / fans / alumni) need to stand up now before its too late -- right now they act like they'd better play along or the Big Boys will take their ball and go home ....well the Big Boys have already called Uber about a ride.
Right now, the mid-majors could enjoy widespread support if they make a stand ---- continue waiting and just taking what the Big Boys will give you ....
.......? ? ?
Ever given in to a bully ...how'd that work out ? ? ?
Time to go "Ralphie" (A Christmas Story) on those guys ! ! !
