The Captain Level
Johnny Orr died today. He and Bob King were the two finalists for the AD position at ISU in 1975.
He was a great college player, a good coach at Michigan and a great story-teller.
I was on the Search Committee.

I recall when he came down to Castle in '68 to scout Evansville North's 6'7" BOBBY FORD, who ultimately signed w/ Purdue and was All-Big Ten for three (3) yrs. Orr was HC @ U. of Michigan at the time...

Curious 'Sage...do you recall who was on the "Search Committee" following Ron Greene's ouster in '89?

No, I don't. It could be that no search committee was appointed. The decision to create a search committee was not mandatory.

The selection of a search committee was not mandatory but, if my memory serves me, there was one appointed in that instance. I would have to ponder that question for awhile. I do not want to be wrong and I do not want to embarrass anyone.

By the way, Johnny Orr had another connection to ISU. In 1949, Orr led Beloit to victory over the Sycamores for third place in the NAIB tournament in Kansas City. I kept score while listening to the game on radio.
