Ruling today states JUCO does not count against years of NCAA eligibility. JUCO athletes who play college sports, retain all 4 years of NCAA eligibility even if they play a year or two of JUCO.

We are going to start seeing 20 year old freshman at the NCAA level.

What’s everyone’s thoughts? Being a JUCO athlete, I have 2 years of eligibility left. Better see if I can get my 78 MPH fastball, change up and curveball back to par. Sorry son, you have no chance when I’m pitching to you now and no more tee. Maybe I can cash an NLI check, do they give those to walk-ons?

I think it's crazy.
I do agree. This is getting completely out of control. This is more about sports than the purpose of college and getting a degree.

Every kid coming out of high school should go JUCO and finish at an NCAA school and graduate with a masters degree. Heck if they redshirt they can start their doctorate.

there are PLENTY of 20-yr old FROSH today, have been for decades...

recommend you petition for a full 4-yrs of eligibility, don't settle for two

yes - NLI applies to walk-ons... former Puce Deuce, turn wRight (not Left) Not-A-State Raider Blake Sisley was offered NIL $$ after Nagy pulled his scholie, Sisley transferred to Gloomington - student status only (until younger brother Trent arrives next year...) do NOT be shocked if Blake "suddenly discovers his love of basketball..."

Should just sue the NCAA at this point and try to cash a check.

Anyone want to represent from JUCO athletes?

This 32 year old with two toddlers has no chance of getting back into my 22 year old body shape. I was strong and could run for days. I wear an Apple watch now to just try to meet walking goals now, haha.

Dude, you could still get those youngsters out!

This all comes following Vanderbilt’s QB suing the NCAA contesting JUCO years shouldn’t count against NCAA eligibility.

This can be appealed but should stand for atleast the next year till it can get through appeals court should the NCAA appeal this.

A true governing body/collective is going to need to be formed to set guardrails for these matters such as transfer portal and NIL.

This all is getting out of control and the NCAA has no control.

NCAA needs to go to Amazon and buy a spine on a line and take a stance.

They have these deep pockets but are so afraid of taking a stance and getting sued.

I suppose theoretically that this only affects a small percent of Juco players who actually are good enough to go to a 4 year school but every kid out there will think they are. Not sure where this all stops but it's a freaking mess.

There are no guardrails and honestly this ruling is very vague. This should currently apply to NCAA DI, DII, and DIII players that come from the JUCO ranks.

Your right, it’s a mess and where does it stop.

They had control BUT they chose to give MOST of it to the Power 2, chiefly sh*t bags like Greg Sankey, Mike Slive, Gene Corrigan, Dick Rosenthal, Mike Wadsworth, Kevin White, Jack Swarbrick, Jim Delany & Tony Petitti; ESPN, FauxSports.

They control they DID NOT cede, they Courts struck down.

NCAA bears 80% of the blame, the assholes named above 15% and the Courts 5%.

Who doesn't want a world where more athletes get masters?

Apparently high school baseball coaches are NOT happy with this. Saw several social media posts from folks involved in youth baseball where they predict you'll see kids now classify up and then go to JUCO where they can get "better development" and you'll see fewer kids drafted out of HS within a decade.

They said it will look like high school hockey which I have zero knowledge of.

The point is how many years of eligibility are we going to give kids/young adults.

I have an intern that is working for me part time playing baseball at a DII school that is on his 7th year of eligibility. He is a great young man and mature enough to work part time and knows what’s important after he graduates.

Who remembers the NCAA commercials prioritizing degrees and stating the % of players who go pro? This has become way more about the athletic part than the degree and life after sports part.
