The Newsom Level
Just wanted to start a discussion about all the things that Dr. Bradley is doing at ISU. He is a great leader, he is making positive changes to the campus, staff, administration, etc. ISU got very, very lucky when they found him and he was interested in the position left behind by our last "president".

From the small things like being available to students and alumni to the middle of the road things like living on campus in the Condit house to the major things like the Master Plan. He is doing great things!!!

So, what are you impressed with or unimpressed with?:sycamores:

I have to agree, Sack. It seems that Dr. Bradley is pursuing a vision for the institution, which is absolutely opposite of the past 18 years. The University was a floundering mess when he took over, and slowly, it seems that he's turning the corner for us. Things are getting done, the defeatist attitude is not as pervasive, and school pride is on the upswing. Good things are going on with Indiana State - let's just hope he can keep the momentum going. Imagine what the guy could do if the economy wasn't continually in the tank...

I am just amazed by the attitude change I have seen in the staff. Virtually everyone that I talk with on that campus generally seems to be full of pride and excited about ISU. Sure there are those that are concerned about somethings...you can't avoid that. But all in all, I it is literally night and day difference from the past several years.

Boda and Sack, I know you know where I am coming from on the subject of Dr. Bradley but ever since Cheri opened up a lemonade stand on the quad on their first day on the job at Indiana State, I knew we had a HUGE home run with both Dan and his remarkable wife. They haven't disappointed me since. Things are not perfect at Indiana State but we are LIGHT YEARS ahead of where we were when Benjy packed his bags.

Sack knows many more staff members than I do and he says the attitude changes on the staff are "amazing" and that is certainly true of the dozens I know. After being involved with alumni for 35 years or so, I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen the positive attitude prevailing from alumnus that been generated since Dr. B arrived. Don't get me wrong, there are serious issues that they are dealing with in Terre Haute and I don't agree with everything, but the administration is dealing with some serious crap. Layoffs in excess of 100, budget cuts across the board, athletic cuts in particular that jeopardize our status in the MoVal and the list goes on. These are tough times and maybe the toughest ever for ISU. God forbid if we didn't have Dan Bradley and Ron Prettyman in place during these tough times. New personnel filling old positions are being hired for the right reasons and are highly qualified and WANT to be at Indiana State.

Dr. Bradley's communication skills with the students are exceptional and they carry over to the staff of the university as well. It is NO SECRET that his predecessors were not communicators.

All in all, I am personally ecstatic about the progress Indiana State has made in the past few years. If we can just get through this tough time economically, I see nothing but superlative things happening to our university in the next decade. If you don't think having the alumni feel this positive about their university makes a huge difference, you are kidding yourself. Pride in your university is the foundation for success, financially, athletically, morale-wise, and perceptually. I am prouder now to be a Sycamore than I have been for a decade or more and as "blue-blooded" as I am, that is significant.

It all began with that lemonade stand back in the summer of 2008 and it has only gotten better since. We can thank the Bradley's for that!

I think the same thing can be said for Gene Crume in the foundation office.
Whether you agree with all of his decisions or not, he has nothing but a positive attitude about turning things around at Indiana State. From the Rex Baseball team to the March On! campaign... to trying to build new leaders and leadership quality people from within the university... All positive things.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about Gene Crume. Another stellar hire and one that is oh-so-critical for the well-being of Indiana State. They too, learned from their mistakes~
