Kent State coach resigns

Kent State: Head coach Doug Martin has resigned. We are hearing that Ohio State linebackers coach Luke Fickell, Notre Dame wide receivers coach Tony Alford, and UTEP defensive coordinator Andre Patterson will all be interested in the job.

I think I would rather be the Captain of that disabled cruise ship off of Mexico than coach at Kent State. Talk about consistent mediocrity, not only a MAC school but one of the WORST to boot.

I'm sure people said ver similar things about us too for a long time. Who knows, the right coach and the right AD and anything is possible. I don't have a clue about Kent State however.

51, I am sure that is likely true, but turning around a program in D-1A that draws poorly, has never warmed to football....ever...seems to be a daunting task. Ball State and Kent State are near the bottom of the D-1A attendence averages and at least Indiana State historically, has drawn near or above average and has had some success. D-1 is D-1 so I am sure Kent State will find someone who is thrilled.

Pretty sure your correct...that will be the biggest issue and not the lack of recent success.

The MAC seems to rotate its conference champion on an annual basis, so every gets to be top dog for a year or so.
