Kravitz really didn't talk a lot about Indiana State. He basically stated that we had the best record for in-state schools and that IU, ND, and Purdue all suck this year.

To me, the theme of his article was negative for the state of football in Indiana when ISU is used as the benchmark.

Don't expect to ever get any respect from Kravitz.

Yeah, he certainly wasn't complimenting us. The picture also isn't very flattering, Fouch being chased. I guess it's nice to at least be mentioned, but ...

The first comment under the story torches us, too. No surprise though. People who comment under news story, by and large, are just miserable people.

Thanks Bob, you took a shot at us without actually trying to take a shot at us. You followed every positive comment with a negative one, "who thought we'd ever type that line"? Well obviously some people did, I might not have been one of them myself. But I can tell you their are people on this forum and at Indiana State that did and good for those people, they deserve the pat on the back now!

chill out folks.....i didnt think it was that bad

bob saw me wearing my sycamore football pullover at the colts facility the other day. we talked about isu football. he was knocking purdue and iu. he wasn't knocking indiana state.

Well, I know Bob

And I, as blue-blooded a Sycamore person as there is, didn't read it that way. Also because we (Bob and I) were talking last week about ISU's record compared to IU and Purdue. So I knew where he was coming from when I read his column on Sunday.

Tom, friendship aside he was poking fun at ISU too. The picture is proof of that. Kravitz is one of the most negative columnists there is.

You honestly don't think he is poking fun at ISU? Come on..

I respectfully disagree. Maybe he wasn't knocking ISU per se but, at best, the way he mentioned the Sycamores was the proverbial left-handed compliment. I was really excited when I read the headline, but once I read the article it became obvious that Kravitz simply used the "Fightin' Trees" as a prop to set up his criticism of the other state football programs.

Had he even written a paragraph in support of ISU's turnaround and success this season it would have been more palatable, but as it was I didn't take it that he was showing ISU any respect.

XTreeXC,

Well said, if he had simply had at least a paragraph of complimentary things to say. I especially took offense to the "belch" insertion.

Well said, that's what I wish I would have been able to say! He didn't mention the Sycamores in the article at all and like you said, when he did it was as a prop to show how low the state of football in Indiana has fallen.

Jeez, okay....whatever

I know nothing. lol And I thought that I took things to the extreme sometimes. lol.

By the way, Bob isn't a "friend," per se. We work together covering many of the same events, such as the Colts. I like some of the things he writes and disagree with other things he writes.

And one other thing. He doesn't make the choice of what pictures to run with his column any more than I pick out what pictures (or headlines) run with my stories in the Tribune-Star.

The editors of the sports section do that. I imagine that they used that one of Ronnie because it was the best AP wire photo that they had.

AP doesn't staff ISU games with photographers and the Indy Star doesn't staff ISU games with photographers. They used the picture that they had.

Kravitz does what he is paid to do, stir things up......and guess what, he DID! I like him most of the time but at best, it was a left-handed compliment and he knew it was. It didn't piss me off. It's just Bob being Bob.

He is a master at stirring things up. I see him as a writer whose strong suit is pointing out the negatives in a situation. If he had actually written a column that was pro ISU, I might have an appointment with the undertaker.

That's all most columnists do, stir the pot. Kravitz really doesn't know his stuff as well as he should. I swear he gets most of his column ideas from the Colts from reading message boards. Original thoughts are not his strong suit.
