listened to it almost 20 minutes worth, and coach kept on saying, they didn't want to extend his contract. I say thank you Curtis, another fumble, hope she's gone soon.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the listen.

Clinkscales seems to be convinced that Lansing only wanted a two-year deal - he did not want to be extended past that. As such, Clink made the decision to move on.

It sounds like he took that as a sign that Lansing wasn't committed here for the long term.

Clink said his one qualification for the hire is to hire a "winner." Someone who has had high-end, sustained success.

Seemed to be pointing toward Schertz with that answer.

Clink says the expectation is to make an NCAA or NIT tournament every 5 years.

When asked directly about the budget, he says everyone knows the budget is low and basically "it is what it is."

Hire coming "sooner rather than later."

Sounds like they are waiting on Schertz to get his ducks in a row at LMU before it is announced.

I listed to an interview that GL did yesterday evening and this was brought up. GL advised that if he was offered a long term deal he would of accepted. It sounds like Clinkscale didn't want GL to have a long term deal.

Another budget question, Clink says the budget is broken into two parts:

ISU's coaching salaries are toward the bottom of the league, as @Jason Svoboda has detailed multiple times. But he said they match anyone in the conference as far as operational budget, i.e., recruiting and travel.

I hope Clinkscale has a plan and raises the bar with this hire.

Unfortunately, we all care too much and I get the feeling we are who we are. The administration has settled that we have challenges and are never going to get over the challenges.

Either way, by next week we should have a coach, need to get on the recruiting trail, and keep some of our players. One thing that really eats me up, when talking about the budget. it is what is. On the other hand I will give our AD credit for coming on the show. Its never easy when you have to let someone go.
