Last night was the 1st opportunity that I've had to view the Bird Statue at night. Frankly, the university MUST install ambient ground lighting to give PROPER illumination of the sculptor's PRIMARY features - 1) the focus of the eyes 2) Bird's shooting form 3) #33. As it stands, the statue is blanketed by dark shadows...surely not what ISU fans wanna see when entering & exiting Hulman Center. GET IT RIGHT, ISU!

Wolfe, ISU and a lighting architect need to collaborate to put the "sparkle" on this wonderful piece of art.

On that note. I love the statue, its great! But I am asking, will they be adding to the base? The base itself is just a big block of concrete. Will they adding lighting, information, something? It took far to long to get the statue so I am not complaining at all...and want to make that clear. I am just wondering if any further plans are there to make the base look a little nicer?

Agree with Bank on this one.
While walking up towards HC on Friday evening I noticed a young lady and her son approaching the statue area. Talked with them as she was wanting to show the statue to her son but was disappointed that with the dreary wintery night conditions it was hardly visible. Talked with them briefly while standing almost underneath the statue.
We can all agree that Larry Bird was never in the dark while representing ISU on the basketball court. Thus it makes sense to put this beautiful statue of Larry back in the light as he represents all that is good about ISU basketball.
No lighting expert here--but a combination white/blue mix of lighting should represent LB and ISU in a class manner.
Also, can we not do away with those rectangular ticket huts --jutting out from the main arena. Are they ever used?

Agreed with the lighting and information. it would be very cool to have a blue light shine on his uniform to make it look colored with bright lights on his skin. don't know if that possible but just an idea.
