No; while he has a great record; what has he done to be called the GoAT (Greatest of All-Time)?

No one has ever managed a game quite like Larussa, on how many teams under some managers do players like schumaker and in a day and age of spending as much money as possible and having multiple superstars this team finds a way...he is an all time great.

this part is true.

But is he THE GREATEST of ALL-TIME? No

GoAT claims are great for argument sake...

If he is not the all-time greatest, then who is?

LaRussa is T2nd in tenure (33 yrs) trails Connie Mack by 20 yrs
LaRussa is 3rd in wins (2,728) trails Mack and McGraw
LaRussa is #60 in Win Pct (.536) but for managers with 15 yrs or more managing, he's #22.
LaRussa is T6th in Pennants won (6)
LaRussa is T6th in World Series won (3)

He belongs in the top echelon but I think Joe McCarthy, John McGraw, Casey Stengel and Cornelius McGillicudy a/k/a Connie Mack are ahead of him in all-time statistics. Walter Alston belongs in the elite, too.

Add Earl Weaver, Sparky Anderson , Dick Williams, Leo Durocher to that list?

Not talking about that. That means nothing to me really. I'm talking win/losses, championships, win %...

Torre won in new York with the largest payroll

So what? You don't win in any market without players. Also, Torre's best teams had the Paul O'Neils, Scott Brocious, Bernie Williams types.

I'm not a Yankee fan at all, but Torre was a damn manager.

Not saying he wasn't good, but he has had a whole butt load more talent than Larussa I can only think of two managers that I would personally take over Larussa...I am biased though soooo hey. Sad to see Tony go, hope this doesn't hurt our chances of keeping Albert.

LaRussa had talent in Oakland and St Louis; Torre winning in NYC was kinda like P Jackson winning in Chicago and LA... except torre's ego is VASTLY different than jackson's

Not the kind of talent that Torre had in New York.
