The Sycamore Level
While all the accolades are being given to the seniors, it's time some are handed to the parents that were behind the scenes, supporting their sons, believing in them when no one else did.
A special award should go out to Tom and Deb Geffert, who are in a class of their own.
These people brought tailgating at home and away games to a whole new level! None of us will soon forget that Sycamore flag flying high in the wind. And the smell of the food cooking on that grill......
While they sure know how to throw a great pre and post game party, they were so much more than party hosts.
For the new players' families, they offered so much valuable information that most don't think about, small things like where to meet your son or grandson after an away game, how and where to pick up will call tickets, etc etc etc.
But most importantly, they made us all feel truly welcome and part of the Sycamore family, not just " a lowly freshman's family." and most importantly, they gave hugs and words of encouragement, at the exact right times. One can easily see how their son became such a great leader. They themselves led by example. They've set the bar high for all of us! Hopefully we can all learn from them, and make the next group of incoming freshmen families feel as welcome as the Gefferts did for us!
