There were lots of complaints around me about swapping the Sycamores and visitor sidelines but I think this was another fantastic change... to go alone with the increased sound effects like the 3rd down train whistle. The simple fact that the benches are now right in front of what should be loud fans will allow for a level of disruption that hasn't been present in the past. Coaches were having to yell over noise and fans in my section were giving players and coaches the business and a couple of them were rattled -- looking into the stands, shaking their heads, having players shield their white boards, etc.

The other benefit is for our offense. As you seen Saturday, we're going to have a precision passing attack and we went uptempo a couple times. That side of the field is considerably more quiet and that can be a pretty big advantage. Might as well take advantage of it until our new stadium is constructed.

well i do not have a problem with sideline switch. You said something about the new stadium being constructed. What is the deal with that and how far out are we looking to see this project to start? i know that we have been buying up land over there and i know that we still got a few more to buy but are there plans out there for people to see and is there going to be a short video of what its going to look like to show to the alumni

Who the hell complains about something like that? Seriously, some (most) people in Terre Haute need to get a life and stop trying to find crap to get pissed about. These are the same people who will stop coming to games if we ever get really good because there won't be good parking anymore...

The bench switch was fine--in fact overdue. I look forward to the day when our crowd is so large and knowledgeable that it causes problems for the opponent one every down, not just third down.

one more good thing about the switch is, it puts the photographer on the other side of the field. so no more complaining about photos of the games with NOBODY IN THE BACKGROUND!!! pictures from the quincey game look like it was played in a stadium! hooraaaayyyyyyy!!

Fantastic point. As did the recap video.

When I was a student at State, that side was the home side, not sure when they changed it. The only downside to it is the sun right in your eyes as you try to look across the field, otherwise it makes perfect sense to have the visiting team closer to the bleachers.

Considering our fans tend to stand up and start cheering and clapping when our offense is facing 3rd and long, I'd say this is a pretty good switch. Seriously, nothing annoys me more. You don't make any noise when the other team is driving down field, but when our guys are facing a tough situation on offense you get up and cheer. I know their hearts are in the right place, but at least have some sense and a little football awareness.

The only down side to this that I noticed is that the teams cross paths when getting on the field. Potential problem unless cool heads prevail.

The teams shouldn't be coming out at the same time anyway. Let our guys come out first and run toward the stands to fire up the fans then let the visitors come out.

Until they built the new locker rooms, they crossed paths with the old configuration. coming on the field is less of a problem than going off the field imo. What are the odds a fight starts, like, between the head coaches. That would never happen, right?
