Best thing to happen to ISU in a long time. I'm pouring all my money into the football program from hear on end. I look for big returns on this investment. Basketball is a losing proposition and they just lost eight seats to football from this alumnus. Hope everybody on here invest wisely in our future and that future is a quality product that Mallory is going to deliver. I know given the resources he'll exceed. Get out and and show your support financially.

Quick, someone ask Buckhorn WHY was this contract extended after only two seasons?!?

According to some on this Forum, Mallory didn't have the same luxury as Lansing of assuming control of a program that had already turned the corner...

I think the next corner will be to be favored in >3 games. we've turned a lot of corners since a previous AD and Coach were here. there's plenty more to turn.

To be fair, an argument could be made that the football program's "success" can be attributed to the University putting money into the program. When Trent took over the program, Indiana State was funded dead last in the MVFC. From that time until just a couple years ago, we went from last to now in the Top 3. That is what commitment to a program looks like and we don't even have the bells and whistles other schools have because of decades of the lack of commitment -- stadium, practice facilities, salary pools, etc.

Here at the numbers per OpEd data. I've updated them to include the 2016-2017 numbers. Football went from being funded 5th in the MVFC to 3rd. Basketball has remained the least funded MVC program, although the gap was $400k between us and SIU last year and it's now ONLY $200k. Do you know what $200k could do to your salary pool?

Honestly if I had to choose between spending more on basketball or football, I'd choose football. We have a way better chance of winning a national title in football than we ever do in basketball. Basketball is too fluky and the chances of ever making a Final 4 run or even a Sweet 16 run are very unlikely. We also play in a one bid league where we could win 28 games and still get left out if we didn't win St Louis. In football the regular season actually matters. We just need to make sure from now on that we are scheduling D1 football programs.

After this past season, I'm very excited about Mallory and the future of the football program. I want to try to stay positive. I didn't want to put a "but" in there, so I'll just say that I think we need to let things progress. We've seen this cycle with football for about a decade now. I want the cycle to end before I jump on board with this idea of devoting more money/energy to football.

We definitely need to devote more money to basketball, although as I've noted elsewhere here, the general consensus seems to be that we have a lot of talent on the team right now. Our lack of funds hasn't prevented us from keeping our coach, or recruiting good players, and we still suck.

I think the "but" is fair and warranted. We're a Top 3 spend in the Valley per the OpEd data so if they're saying they don't have something, the budget needs to be scrutinized to see where money is being poorly spent. I expect upper half finishes here on out. Unlike hoops, money cannot be used as an excuse for the football program.

The school can't afford to go higher than the $4m mark for football without there being significant donations or an increase in attendance. Any additional spending MUST be on facilities if it is to remain viable long term. There needs to be an on campus stadium plan in the works. It needs to be public and people need to be able to start contributing towards it now.

Do you think our administration would trade our budget with any of those below us for their facilities?

If they wouldn't, they shouldn't be employed.

This is why them failing to pass around the offering plate during Miles initial resurgence is just another reason why Ron Prettyman was vastly overrated as an AD.

I wont disagree with you there.

Im hoping he and the coaches got a raise, there is a big buyout clause and after he wins a MVC title and goes deep in the playoffs he gets a big payday and we do too.

I'd settle for the title and playoffs.

IF, and I don't see it happening, but if we have a couple of 5 or fewer win seasons, how long will it take the ratsbto abandon ship and give Malloey the same lack ;of respect Lansing now has
