Three different Indiana State batters combined to hit four home runs as the Sycamores’ softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader to Creighton on Saturday at Price Field.
In the first game, the Sycamores struck first in the bottom of the first inning but could not rally behind freshman Halle Humphrey’s complete game as the Sycamores lost, 3-1.
Junior Shelby Wilson gave the Sycamores an early lead as she hit a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the Sycamores a 1-0 lead.
The Bluejays battled back in the top of the third when Creighton sophomore Bri Lingl hit a bases-loaded deep flyball to center field that was misplayed by the Sycamore center fielder, allowing three unearned runs to score, giving the Bluejays a 3-1 advantage.
The Sycamores threatened in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Ashley Dickerson hit a one-out double to right center before a walk by freshman Kelsey Montgomery. Both runners advanced on a groundout by junior Morgan Allee before a groundout ended the inning.
But the Sycamores could get no closer.
